Inmate Killed At New Folsom Prison
Man's Neck Slashed

FOLSOM, Calif. -- An inmate at California State Prison, Sacramento was killed by another inmate on Thursday morning, officials said.

Shannon Lee Graling, 53, was assaulted by Steven Matthew Schultz, 28, as Graling pushed a laundry cart at around 7:57 a.m., Lt. Judy Loer said.

Graling's neck was slashed with an apparent inmate-made weapon, Loer said, and he died at a local hospital at 9:10 a.m.

Officials said Graling was serving a 400-year sentence for five counts of lewd and lascivious acts on a child under 14, and was received from Santa Cruz County in 1997.

Schultz was serving a 26-year-to-life sentence for first-degree murder, officials said, and was received from Placer County in 1999.

Well, I guess it really does happen inside.....

Good job prisoner Schultz! What's his inmate number so I can send him some canteen money? :applause

Apparently a good number of guys in the slam were molested as children and don't have much love for pedos. Good job Schultz!

That's good news. I hope Shultz gets a lot of thank you cards.

Interesting that Schultz gets a 26 year sentence for murder, and yet Graling gets 400 years for being a pedophile. Not saying they don't all deserve everything you can throw at them, and then some more, but the justice system does seem out of whack. :rolleyes

Anyway, we also get the added benefit that Schultz won't be getting out anytime soon. :thumbup

could it have been gang-related or gang-initiation?

Do prisoners still wear numbers on their prison shirts, or do they have name tags?

Just wondering how a specific prisoner is ID'ed by others.

Maybe a guard that dosen't like child molesters drops the dime.

Prisoners run most of the day to day ops, and have access to paperwork.

That's soo sad. :(

Really?

That's the craziest thing I've ever heard of, but I'm sure it saves someone money. Although allowing prisoners to plug into the system seems to stretch common sense.
