Logitech wants your next mouse to last forever

I tried my old Kensington ball on my new 'puter, two of four buttons worked, and the ball, needs software update.
My 1st gen iPod still works, with some battery time.
USB keyboard light, works, before back lit keyboards.
Griffin knob, scrolling, used to edit video/sound, works, needs software.
Card reader, compact and secure cards, no workie
