Does anybody know a place where I can get one by Thursday? I have a trackday this weekend and need one asap. I accidentally over torqued mind and it stripped when replacing my tires. Bike is a Ducati 959 but that part shared with a bunch of other model like the 848,1199, 899, etc. if you happen to have one forsake as well, let me know. located in San Jose CA

I suspect you'd have better luck finding one if you posted in one of the local Ducati-specific Facebook groups. Try the Bay Area Desmo Owners Club (BADOC) group or the Desmo of Silicon Valley group.

If you rounded the nut over using a 12-point socket, you might still be able to turn it using a 6-point. Or an adjustable wrench. A 6-point socket might be difficult to find locally. Maybe try Grainger or MSC Direct?

I presume you've called a few dealers?

You don't say what stripped. Threads or rounded off the corners on the outside?

If the threads are stripped, likely the threads on the axle are buffered as well.

If it's the outside corners of the nut, clean up the corners with a file and then try a 6 pint socket.

What were you turning the nut with and was it the correct size?

Posted everywhere I can think off even those group you mention in social media. Also called around and won't be able to get it this on time. The thread in the aluminum nut literally cracked and some broke off. Checked the thread on the axle and it looks good.

That's funny: I belong to both of the groups I mentioned and don't remember see any posts during the last week about someone looking for an axle nut...

Mybad. I posted on the bayarea Ducati classified, and a couple Panigale group on FB.

Yes it's aluminum!

Most shop are close on the weekend, so I'll try my luck again on Monday.

You're right. Thanks for the reminder. Lucky I have a friend that's nice enough to let me use his for the track if I can't find one on time.

You'll have the best luck posting in BADOC, DesmoSV, or Nor Cal Ducati Classifieds.

If you know the size of the nut, you could also try Mr. Metric in San Jose. They won't have the Ducati part, but they might have something that could work in a pinch.

Since it's aluminum and on a critical part of the bike, I'd be very surprised if they had the proper replacement.
