Low Oil on borrowed car

Ahhhhh. Nothing much better than the subject of oil to get arguments going over Internet forums. Some things never change.

If you use the snake oil you can do anything.

I've had the oil light come on two of my used vehicles. It was how I realized a couple thousand miles into ownership that they were bad oil burners. I think there is only one oil light though, and I have no idea if it is for pressure or level. Either way. ..... When the light came on, I wasn't adding one quart. Or two quarts but actually up to 3 quarts! In a vehicle that held either 4.5 or 5.5 quarts of oil.

In my experience, older cars usually had oil pressure warning lights.

Not sure how old you consider to be "older" though.

What's that thermometer light thing on the dash for? Is that the battery temperature..? :toothless

:laughing

Sure you do-drain what's left out and measure it.

I'd argue that if OP has both a low oil level light and a low oil pressure light then if one came on but not the other, no damage was done.

I'd argue that if the woman that owns this car is banging the op there is a real travesty taking place.

Actually not myth. Combining non synthetic Edith fully synthetic created an ungodly sludge mess. I will dig up pics from when I worked Stan exclusive MB shop .

Rolf! Hey mang, you owe me a tall iced tea and some napkins..! OMG!!! :rofl :rofl

Both my 94 Ranger and Explorer the light would come one when it was 1 quart low. Both had minor oil leaks.

at least it's not a long island iced tea...if you switch to them tho make sure they don't use any synthetic rum or it will react with the tequila and gum up your upper g.i. tract, joe.

They dont make full synth tequila yet, so that's how it has to be.

I can't believe you people have been responding to each other back and forth on this topic, without the OP even partaking . And that you've taken the thread for 9 pages... :facepalm

then the first hecking response was correct enough.. (post #2) :facepalm

dang on the first page this guy is posting twice within 10 minutes, without any OP participation or question

p.s. I didn't think the 2.0 engines lose any oil any more. They resolved that problem a bit of time ago. I thought the A3s were all 2.0 turbos (so the danger from the 1.8L losing oil is long gone) .. aside from the bigger 6-cyl. That said I doubt the lady had a 6-cyl A3.
