Didn't even know the mcrib is back, but I do know cuz of barf and not from other social media sites though

I gotta say, I'm not digging the window advertising this time around. Last year they just said "McRIB NOW" like it was Arnie's battlecry in an 80's action movie. Now they say "McRib Returns", like the shitty sequel.

Despite my criticisms, back in the day when on the road for work I’d sometimes pull into a McDonald’s for an egg McMuffin. If you got them without margarine they weren’t too horrible. I believe McDonald’s uses synthetic motor oil for margarine.

Oh. And I’m not sure if just the particular McDonalds I go to for lunch is an anomaly here or what. But I tried to order hash browns to put in my last McRib and they said “lunch menu only” which was a bit of a disappointment. I quite enjoyed my little modification there.

It has never come back as far as I know. And it’s been yeeeeaarrrs now.

In the end, TB really just has like 6-8 ingredients all just arranged/wrapped differently.

I am almost certain I talked about this in the last McRib thread. But I believe it was McRib season in 2018. Despite being “national” it wasn’t around here in NorCal. But I just happen to be down south in Torrance for a few days. And the McRib was all over down there. So of course I went absolutely berserk while I was there. And then the final act of psychotic obsession…instead of leaving early morning, I purposely waited around a few hours (meaning I would absolutely hose myself with LA lunchtime traffic) for all the McDonalds to switch over from breakfast to lunch so I could snag two more for the road.

How’s that for thought process!

I was a little annoyed yesterday. I grabbed 2, and each one literally had 3 pickle slices on it.

Like WTF.

ALWAYS ask for extra pickles and/or onions. Don't allow them to get cheap on you.

literally nobody is suggesting eating that crap for every meal every day.

I don't often agree with Tyler...but this is one of those times.

Yes, the way I remember the meat processing plant was huge industrial front loading washing machines scrubbing shredded animal bits, pulverizing everything to a pinkish slime, pumping it through hundreds of meters of stainless tubing, cooking it up in large vats with other ingredients/modifiers before injecting the goo into molds to be cooked at high temperature and pressure, then frozen and packaged into 50lb boxes to be distributed across the lands.

First of all, "Pink Slime" was beef product, not pork. Secondly...

See that's the rubicon they have yet to cross. I'm sure someone in the South is selling these:

The McRib Country Breakfast platter: Scrambled eggs, McRib patty w/sauce, hashbrown and pancakes!

The singular challenge is packaging it so that the entire plate isn't covered in sauce. But that's a detail.

They're not doing a good job of advertising it, really. I've yet to see any commercial advertising it, any location with it actually on the menu or even any window advertisements at McDonald's locations.

I'm fairly certain that the Mexican Pizza was literally the ONLY thing on the Taco Shitz menu that didn't fuck my guts up. YMMV

Ehh, besides maybe the deep fried four tortillas, TB ready regularly stocks all.of the ingredients to make them. Fried tortillas aren't exactly in shortage, or at market pricing whims.

Didn't the reason for the sporadic McRib have something to do with whether or not McD could secure cheap prices on bulk pork, or something?

That's the typical story, yes. However, it's available year-round in some places outside the country. I'd truly be surprised if the pork futures markets outside the US are so out of whack with the American markets that McDonald's couldn't afford to continue to sell the McRib all the time here too.

My preference is with the scrambled egg in place of the fried. I've had odd textured ones in the past. Scrambled is a game changer.

What advertising? Where are you seeing advertising? I haven't seen any.

I don't know if you'd call a poster in the window of the mcdonalds since you can barely see it from the street. For me its mostly visual confirmation that it's a participating restaurant before i commit to parking/drivethrough
