Hey, are there any mechanics in the Bay Area still working on old bikes such as a 2003 FZ1? My husband's been trying to fix a charging system with his bike, and is getting near the end of what he's able to do himself. He's replaced the voltage regulator rectifier and the stator, and the battery is still not charging properly. (I can get a more detailed description later of all the things he's done/readings he's getting so far, but he's not home right now to ask. But the battery is fairly new and tests fine*, and the RR and stator test fine too, but he says "based on yesterday’s tests now believe there is a short somewhere between regulator & battery".)

*tests fine means whatever y'all do with your multimeters and doodads to check these things show that these things are behaving the way they should

I do try to be discerning and Ducatis are my favorite 😃 but I am happy to check on the FZ1. I do have a recommendation for someone a little closer and will send you a message about him.

In the meantime it might be fun to add a ground directly from the regulator to the battery
