Anyone else hear the cool news?
I am so excited to have a "local" CA girl to cheer for in WSBK.

I know there is a growing contingent of gal riders on BARF so I just wanted to share.

Too bad that Miller MotorSport's SuperSport race isn't being shown until Tues night 6/2 :(

ok, back to work... done geeking out about motorcycle racing
*sigh*
for now

:laughing

Just curious, but does she kick ass in whatever series she races in? I would hope so if she is going to have any chance against the WSS guys. Not because she is a girl, but because they are amazingly fast!

I remember Katja Polgeson (sp) coming over and racing an AMA 600cc race at Sears Point and not doing so well.

yea.. to be a successful* racer, kicking ass helps :laughing

I am not that familiar with all the different club racing categories, but you can see her results here:

Not bad. But it's just cool that she got the wild card, ya' know?

Quiz: Which AMA rider got a wild card last year at Miller?

*
[ok, to be a top-placing racer ... honestly, getting around the track at speed w/ all limbs & bike intact sorta qualifies as 'successful' in my book ;)]

It is very cool and she is very hot. I would hate for her to get humiliated and/or be lapped though. Again, not because she is a girl, but because there are some guys in AMA that would have trouble keeping up with the top 15 riders in WSS. Good on her though!:teeth

Go girl!

Selfishly I want more women racing...

Melissa qualified within 0.2 seconds of (former AFM #1) Jeff Tigert @ Daytona, and ahead of fast Californians like Michael Beck and Nicky Moore.

Katja, by comparison, went around Infineon about as fast as a well-ridden SV650.

Well hope she does well.. 38th place at Daytona is definitely not front runner material.. nor is Tigert's 36th place finish.

Melissa Paris was on yesterday's LeoVince Grapecrushers ride. After lunch and during the raffle giveaway we got to meet and hear her. She's unassuming, sweet and funny. As soon as it finishes processing, I'll post a short video clip that includes her in the LV Grapecrushers thread in Moto Photos.

Yvonne,

that WAS you - I'd wondered when I spied your CA plate,
as we waited to go out on track at the end of a full day -
but then I forgot to ask at snak time up the hill

that was li'l ol' me astride Tuono Joice's red Aprilia,
loving your awesome paint job

didja realize that Rachel Hacking [oooh!!]
was cheering us on as we left start/finish?

props to LeoVince - a great ride!

:shhh [sotto voce] My plate's a *secret*.

Realized today I wasn't all that friendly during yesterday's ride. Can't help it. Too shy. And I guess you're just a tad shy too! :laughing

Was really funny when a guy under a baseball hat and speaking with a slight British accent sat down at our picnic table and said Hi! like he knew me. I was going, :confused, and then read the little logo on his t-shirt. And then I went, Oh, it's Rob! :laughing

Mel and Josh are friends of ours, and she is a VERY cool girl. Determined more than most know. She's talented, and driven, just like Josh. A perfect pair for each other for sure. She's someone that many look up to, if for no other reason than her determination to succeed.

Talked to her about it shortly and she's ready to rock. Knows it'll be a hell of a pack to ride with, but she's no quitter. Keep the good thoughts going her way!
