lol - the new ones look like a transformer toy run over by a steamroller. chevy designers suck ass. no aesthetic design inspiration what-so-ever. oh hey - since when - ever in the history of automotive design, did the design of a vette follow after the design of a camaro? sad state of affairs for such an iconic brand.

The beauty of Lou's argument is that he'll be correct either way. Either it's the new Corvette chassis but the fiberglass will be different and he'll say "See, told, ya, so! .... Not....the, new Vette..."
Or it will not be the new Corvette at all, in which case he'll say "See, told, ya, so! .... Not....the, new Vette..."

While GM did file for the trademark "Zora" and will most certainly use that as a model designation in the near future, I think that's about the only speculation that is accurate.
Porsche 911 has pretty much looked the same for decades now for the same reason you won't see a mid engine Corvette. Also the same reason Harley's V-Rod is still just some red headed stepchild compared to the rest of the lineup. You don't fix what ain't broken. Just like the 911, the Corvette has a lot of history and tradition. Every time they try to depart from expected traditions, sure they may attract a new buyer here and there but they also greatly disappoint the loyal potential return customers. Look how much pissing and moaning has gone on about the C7's taillights. When the C6 did away with the hidden headlights, there was also an equal amount of complaints from the masses.
If they went to a mid engine, they'd have to sacrifice another thing people have grown to expect from a Corvette, a sports car with an amazingly large trunk. Making it a very good grand touring car as well.
Well said. It's possible they're going to split the line, which is what I believe they'll do. The ZR1 line will be distinctly different and a boutique car for real. The one thing that makes mid engine cars do-able now is the competency and efficiency of electronic stability programs. Most people would wad a 500hp mid engine car up in one or two corners.
That's the new El Camino.
I would love a new El Camino
Its great that GM produces a car as cool as the corvette
And the price is right for what the buyer is getting. While it'd be super cool to have an all-American car to go toe-to-toe with Ferrari, Lambo, McLaren, NSX, etc, Americans may not be ready for too much of a good thing.
Yes they are. And it sort of already exists. The 2015 Corvette Z06 can take on all but the most outrageously priced exotics.

Take a Corvette to Monaco and it becomes an "exotic"...![]()
Sorry, meant toe-to-toe in the exotic category.
It does that too Marcus...Robs correct.
