More Time To Get Fit - 2025

Fully lit with that effort! Next time, you're gonna use more of the TF.
i was a little pressed for time yesterday. the exercise bike was surprisingly fun. i turned my brain off and just went for it.

your rower said i did 3995m in 21 minutes which seems crazy high compared to my rower at home, which is admittedly less advanced.

in other news: i have been discharged from PT! i will continue to work on my exercises and stay active. he wants me to walk and gave me guidelines re: pain, duration, etc.

lots to think about here and that's why I love this thread.

I have been doing more or less the same exercises for awhile now probably plateaued on them. Hopefully this new workout will spark some growth. I am looking to put on more muscle as I have slacked during my best years and need some now because dammit why not got look hot in that swimsuit. :ROFLMAO:

I might off cycle some things I have been doing for a log time to see if that switch helps also.
In track, we know from science that after 4 weeks of the same exercises, the benefit drops off, so you have to vary your workouts periodically to keep benefitting.

My coach does haven’t me do the same workouts for more than 3wks. And of course they aren’t actually identical, just the same intent. Each week progressive overloads until I’m dead 💀.

With my lifting, he gives specific lifts for ~2/3rds of the workout. Each week gets a change in RPE and rep count. And usually I get diff lifts after 2 or 3 weeks.

Cossack squat was brand new this week. Kinda fun way to squat, open the hips, and stretch the hamstring.

those look intense. i wonder if i could get into one.

Ya I can’t get that low for the Cossack. It’s comically bad how tight my left hip is. Right is ok. We gotta start somewhere. Hopefully I improve.

i managed to to raise myself from a regular squat today while showing my PT how low i could go. i was quite proud.

have you ever tried getting into a pigeon pose? they’re a beautiful hip opening stretch.

Here’s a snippet of today’s workout. 5min tempo into 30sec high cadence sprint. 6x for a 33min block. And do that twice. I am so 💀 rn. The intent of the high cadence sprint is to wake up my legs after being sick. It def worked - they felt better at the very end.

Ya I do pigeon pose after every ride. It’s a hamstring and glute stretch for me cuz those muscles are so tight. A little psaos too if I turn to the side. Bodies are weird 🤪

I made it through 40 minutes of a 60 minute hot yoga class last night. I got rekt. :laughing
Be aware that there are a bunch of different yoga styles, each quite different from the other. I've found some to be very difficult for people with tight hips and others that are much more forgiving.
I found that Iyengar Yoga was most agreeable with my very type hips.

Ohhh I'm aware. This was a hot vinyasa flow type. Sans heat I could have made it. I have dabbled with yoga over the years. I'm tying to get heat adapted for an east coast triathlon this summer. This yoga won't hurt that effort.

did you wear your Lululemon pants? :laughing

i am going to try out a peloton tonight. i hope i can program it to add some climbing to the session.

That East Coast heat ain't like CA heat. The humidity makes it literally stick to any skin that's showing....
