Morgan Territory Road after the storm?

I just don't see that. It's a somewhat shoddily maintained road with rough patches. :dunno Nowhere near 'shit conditions', IMHO. :ride

About two years ago I came around a blind corner and was confronted with a mudslide across the whole road. In the 20 feet I had to react I got the bike as upright as possible and hung on as my rear tried to pass the front. I made it through but the guy behind me was not as lucky. Alone it is not unlike the hazards faced on any other road, but it seems that every time I go out there weird things are just normal in the Territory. It keeps you on your toes.

My biggest issue with that road are the ranchers cutting through from Livermore playing 'hogs of the road' in the F350's. Doesn't help that most don't bother to try and move an inch for ya, not that there is really an inch to give in a lot of places.

That road is meant for motards.
I use to head out there at least once a week from Castro Valley.

The near death gravel and mud slides make it fun :D

Diggin' up sum old thread y'all:twofinger

After the torrential rains we've been getting, it was time to revisit good ol' Morgan Territory. Passing through the "Road Closed to Thru Traffic"sign on the North side, there was mud, mud every where...with just enough left over asphalt patches for some traction to stay upright.

Definitely a much more challenging ride compared to the summer time over the same stretch, I'd almost convinced myself that I was doing some sort of "enduro":teeth

Mandatory picture of Alpaca herd guarded by a lone ostrich near the Southern end is below:

Wasn't alive back in the 70s, but it rides much like Mt. Madonna Rd. over in the Watsonville/Gilroy mountains. :thumbup
could'a sworn I rode it w/a few buds on cb/gs750's/z-1's/gs1000's/etc. mid to late 70's? (we frequently went "exploring.")

Ya'all know me memory...=shit. Middle portion was mostly gravel/dirt till you got to ALCO, then it changed to asphalt. Think that park at the top was the whole point of a road up there? Alameda Co. side there were houses/ranches almost to the top....?

If it isn't raining on Monday, I may take DR350 there. Should be fun.

I took that road with my Harley, It is not for the faint of heart. Once you get through all that crap, then it is smooth sailing from there

Road through yesterday. There is a "Road Closed to Through Traffic" sign on each end. I came across a road crew just finishing cleaning the last of the mess from the storm. It was pretty clean. A few little gravel spots and damp spots here and there.

I rode it today. The first section, from Marsh Creek through the ranches had a long section (about 100 yards) where a slide ate one of the lanes. The ravine section started with a Road Closed sign blocking the lane, I went around and checked the GPS. It agreed that it was closed at the top. I figured I would ride to the closure and turn around. As I rode up the road there were some minor slides, gravel and mud. A river flooded one turn with 4-5 inches of water.

At the top, it was business as usual. Other than lots of standing water, the road was open down to 580.
