This guy on a motard is really mixing it up with the Superbikes during a WERA race at Road Atlanta from last year. No fear!

Now that is hilarious! Road Atlanta isn't really a slow track either, but he's right up there with them.

That guy carries some pretty mad corner speed!

I'd really like to know how he got from 7th to 5th on the back straight at Road Atlanta with a 30-40hp deficit.

I don't think the camera bike isn't the motard. The motard started from the pole it looked like, and was fighting for 3-5th.

I see what you're doing. You're trying to see how to stay away from those damn leaking tards!

Judging by the sound of the bikes and the speeds they're going, I'd say those are 250s that motard was racing with.

those must have 250's or some small displacement twins. the camera bike guy was WOT a lot and not using all the track on exit, turning in early and missing apexes and you typically can't get to WOT that quickly doing stuff like that

looked like the tard guy was on a XR650R?

The guy that posted the vid had the following tags:
Motorcyle Racing WERA Bikes VFR400

The guy also posted a comment that the 680cc stroker motor in the motard was built by the same guy that built his 400.

Just checking out a great track, how much gas money would it take to go race at Road Atlanta? :laughing

Do all motards struggle to hold a line like that, or was he just being mega-aggressive on corner entries and the brakes since it was the one place he had an advantage?

I'd imagine the camera guy had to be thinking "oh shit, where is he gonna make his move" in every braking zone.

That was very entertaining... :thumbup

:smoking

Its the very different chassis geometry. Its obvious especialy if you try to ride the tard roadracing style. Then again in high speed corners it still is the better option.
On most roads I ride one of my main focus is to ride very close to the right side of the road [because roads like 236/Tunitas/Stage are narrow and often cars come around the corner in the middle of the lane]
I find it much easier to keep a tight/neat/precise line on the R1.

here's a much simpler explanation - he is going into the slow corners waaaaay too hot in order to make passes on the brakes since entry speed is his only advantage

sorry guys, thats me on a schteve ride. I will go back and edit the title of that vid for you.
