Motion pro carb sync mercury refill

But a larger diameter column of mercury will have more atmospheric pressure acting to lift it up (same PSI, but more square inches). So I still don't think the diameter of the tube makes any difference.

this is correct. force provided by atmospheric pressure is linearly dependent on the cross sectional area (A) of the manometer, as is the increase in weight of the liquid no matter what you choose.

the simplest way to show this is to assume the force due to atmospheric pressure is equal to the weight of the column of liquid.

Fa= force provided by atmosphere
Pa= atmospheric pressure
A = cross sectional area of tube

Fa=Pa*A (force = pressure x area)

the weight of the liquid column
Fg = weight
p=density of liquid
l=height of column
g=gravitational constant
A= cross sectional area of tube, same as above

Fg=p*A*l*g

if you set Fg=Fa
Pa*A=p*A*l*g

and the A cancels out of the equation, therefore inside diameter of the tube doesn't matter

If that's the simplest way, I don't want to see the most complex one. :wow

But thanks for backing me up. :thumbup

Sweet, I wasn't sure if what I was told was correct or not. Good to know. :thumbup

you could do it with a pressure balance at the intersection of the atmosphere and liquid, but it would boil down to the same thing :teeth

someone should check my math, cuz i suck at algebra

Holy 7 months ago batman! I keep spilling mercury from my sticks and went searching to get advice on where to buy more. Just ordered some from this place. I tried the non-mercury sync tool and didn't like it - I recall getting air in there by accident and having a hell of a time getting it out.

mercury is not really available any more..... on the epa list of banned substances

Mercury is so toxic you would need a zillion federal permits to get any.

Good luck as mercury is illegal to sell to the general public! Need to find someone who has access to it at work,etc that can get you some. Kinda like trying to buy pot! LOL

that's a cool website :thumbup

Old thermostats usually have about 3 grams a piece, he'll only need a few dozen :rofl

Or find yourself an old sphygmomanometer.

Or roll to Mexico. Shouldn't be a problem finding some there.

I have one of those bottles laying around still sealed somewhere.

After buying 2 used mercury tools and having both of them leak the mercury out, (one my fault, the other, who borrowed it) I said enough, and bought a new Motion Pro Sync Tool. Hangs on the wall in my garage when not in use, Attack Chihuahua Safe, works excellent, and worth the money spent.

I have one I could sell you full of the juce for $35.00 you come get it.

Get the Sudco dial vacuum gauges.. less $$ than the rest and it's a better tool than the rest too.
