Fuck Rossi. Why do we want him to win?

I don't think they will move Smith up, based on his results. They will put some fear in to him and I bet there is a performance clause in his contract. It is disappointing that Yamaha won't provide 6 bikes, they would dominate with more bikes out there..

Kevin, there are far more politics than you're factoring in. Cal is currently the best, and only, British rider in GP. They won't want to lose him.

Ducati candidates? Johnny Rea, hands down.

Also, Karel rode pretty hard against Cal at Valencia last year for that 4th place finish. On a Ducati. Kinda hope Karel can move to a better bike and prove himself too. That really is the problem with the series, plenty of talent. Not enough good rides, even if bought!

there is zero doubt to me that cal belongs in motogp, on a good bike. smith does not. if cal gets bumped for smith, it'll be a travesty.

To clarify, Toby Moody and Julian Ryder said something along the lines of, if Smith isn't riding in or around the top 5 throughout the season, his contract won't be followed through on. I'm sure there is some kind of clause keeping Smith out of the ride if he isn't showing good pace.

I would definately like to see a link to confirm. its probably very true, theres no way herve would do this whole thing without.

and isnt his motogp contract for two years, too

Yes, this is an issue. I was really hoping that Suzuki would bring a competitive factory platform next season, but development costs are obviously a factor here. I have to believe they have the engineering expertise to do it.

And I am just not convinced that the CRT experiment is panning out too well. They are not the rolling chicanes we thought they would be, but they are certainly not good enough either. To have a race within a race in the premier class is ludicrous. And if the powers that be continue to push towards this direction, it will take relevance away from the series. These prototype machines are racing erotica to me and it's what makes MotoGP the ultimate.

.....
So if they don't get rid of rookie rule for marquez, who deserves the 2nd honda seat most? bautista?
There is the rub. It is NOT the second seat that is up for grabs, it is the FIRST chair. Honda will probably keep Dani because he can secure them the Manufacturer's Trophy with his points. But, he has had his shotssssss. Hell, Hayden even took ZooG. Honda seems to believe that Dani can't get them the Rider's Championship, or they wouldn't have grabbed Stoner. Dani would have stayed #1 and Dovi could have been #2 until Bradl or Marquez matured.

Without Simoncelli and Stoner, some-one needs to step it up to get things exciting next year. I would bet that the ex-moto WSBK guys would happily grab an open motogp chair, as long as the pay cut wasn't too deep. :laughing

if rossi leaves ducati, with no improvement, I really wonder if they can survive that. who goes there?
Cal Crutchlow. I used to love to see him ride on the ragged edge in the supersport class several years ago.

I think that he's probably closer to Stoner in style than anybody else in MotoGP.

And Cal has been quoted as saying he's not afraid of the Ducati. His style is compared alot to Stoner's as one of the few guys who could actually ride that beast.

If you've seen a CRT machine up close you will know that these are as purebred as anything out there.

The CRTs are 6 races in, expecting a major factory to be getting into the top ten with only 6 races would be insane. Hell, BMW with tens of millions couldn't get a bike into the top 5 in WSBK despite having some of the best riders.

This is the big leagues. Give them a minute to get caught up.

We can also expect a spec ECU or rev limit soon and that will serioulsy level the field.

Bingo.

Everyone said the same thing about Nicky

Cal, telling yoda he will try and defeat the ducat IN 2013, yoda responds "you...will...fail"

Agreed. Perhaps I am being too critical. It has to be extremely difficult to be competitive at this level. I just don't want to see creativity and technical innovation stifled for the sake of cutting costs.

And the spec ECU would certainly not be the worst thing that could happen. I think anything that puts things more in the pilot's hands is a step in the right direction. :thumbup

Two points: the spec ECU didn't kill F1 and a spec ECU points way more control in the riders hands as is severely limits traction control.

I don't believe in a spec ECU (I don't like spec anything) and believe rev limits make more sense but the ECU will definitely flatten the field.

IMO they should just give Pedro the 1st seat and make that situation between 1st and 2nd seat a non issue. There isn't anyone capable of joining the team next year that is more deserving than him. Then it is a decision for seat 2.

Hypothetically, if spies does get dropped at the end of this year, would Honda go after him? He would go right?

I think the days of 1-2 seats are gone. yamaha had rossi jorge battling it out, and last year despite dani being number one, they went out and got stoner.

the number one ride should be whomever is doing the best. I think dani is quite clearly one of the top 4 ridrs on the planet. To not go after him is insane. I dont think he will ever win a title, unless some serious breaks go his way, but he frankly is an alien, in the original sens eof the term. I wouldnt be surprised if dani is offered a two year deal again. marquez will need a learning year at least, and then a year to go for it. They need a proven winer and contendor on that team. its dani
