Hey guys,

Not sure where to post or what to search . What are any good part shops around the East Bay / south bay area ?

For example I always go to Eastbay motorsports or Fremont Kawasaki . But sometimes they don't have what I need.

Any places you guys recommend before I order online. I'd like to have the part to do work this weekend.

TIA

From what I've experienced, the local shops are not stocking much these days. It's gotten worse with covid. Every part I have tried to get they have had to order. I like to support local business but having to make a trip back when I could have just ordered the part myself and have it delivered to the house is easier.

Google shops in your area and call around to see if they have what you need.

this damn covid. Really has made a mess of everything. Funny though after I post I did a yelp for motorcycle parts stores.

sometime's I don't think straight. DOH

Yeah, it can be tough unless it's a general maintenance item for a common motorcycle. Might try Santa Clara Cycle Accessories, if they don't have it in stock I'll bet they can get it quick.

When I had to replace some parts on my 890 in Q3/4 of 2020, Mach 1 mentioned that KTM had all but stopped production of non-essential components (functional vs aesthetic). That may be a common thread for a number of mfgers. Took 4-5months to get parts that are usually 6-weeks max.

OEM or aftermarket parts? If it's aftermarket then oppracing.com has a physical warehouse in south SF. I've been there to pick up personal orders. Small-ish operation but they carry or can get most of the good stuff.

I've ordered stuff through Cycle Gear, both when I lived in Pleasanton and where I am now. I don't mind a visit to the store, and neither were all that far away. The advantage of ordering at their store is that it's easy to return if you get the wrong part in, which has happened to me once or twice. Happened at the Honda dealer once too. (Ordered a chain guard that didn't match my swingarm.)

If you order at the store, they get credit for the order, so it helps them stay in business. I like having shops around.

But, seriously, it’s been a problem since COVID, especially for European makes.

Yes its true the boogieman has kept suppliers from having the everyday things we need, and are usually in stock.
It did take almost three months for me to get a key blank from Italy.
Found Fremont to be a good place to go get parts if you are lucky enough to have one the bikes they sell or service.

I wouldn't use haystacks dealer, because of all the shiesty shit they pull.
Not to mention it gets rather irritating listening to a know it all parts counter person tell you the part you want doesn't exist. When it does indeed exist they just don't know how to read their parts schematics.

Scott R they have Cycle Gears in Idaho??:wow

The warehouse in SF doesn't exist anymore. Patrick (owner OPP) shut it down and moved all inventory back to Washington over a year ago.
