Finally came around to reading Mat Oxley's - Age of Superheroes and Zen.. his Doohan bio is up next. Any suggestions of other good books?

Kenny Roberts "The Art and Science of Motorcycle Racing"
Really good stuff

I've been meaning to read Mat Oxley's Stealing Speed which the story of Ernst Degner defecting from East Germany (and taking some technical knowledge with him) to race for Suzuki. There is a review on Revzilla.com by Mark Gardiner. BTW, Mark Gardiner is subject of the excellent One Man's Island film.

+1 for Stealing Speed. Absolutely fascinating story. Real life James Bond stuff.

Also enjoyed Leanings: The Best of Peter Egan from Cycle World This collection of stories is very enjoyable especially if you like short stories that can each be read in a evening.

I also really like Bimota: 25 Years of Excellence by Giorgio Sarti. This book has become hard to find (and expensive), but very good historical expose on the early years of Bimota with numerous interviews and of course lots and lots of great photos.

I will also mention the biography John Britten by Tim Hanna. This long, detailed, and well researched biography details the life and accomplishments of John Britten. It particularly exposes his personal relationships with those who contributed to his successes. (slight spoiler alert) The book also sheds light on some unfavorable aspects of John Britten's life. He was a real person and far from perfect.

BTW, Mark Gardiner is subject of the excellent One Man's Island film.

Fascinating! Thanks for the excellent recommendation. :thumbup
