PM me and I'll tell you who he is. It's a new member.

I had a recent interaction with a person here on this board; I gave him a bunch of parts for free.

This person misrepresented himself as someone that could get a mechanics lean done and was to take a motorcycle and put a mechanics lean on it; I took him on his word.

Instead of putting a mechanics lean on it, he quickly sold it for parts.

After selling it for parts he starts the subterfuge bullshit.

The owner of the motorcycle resurfaced and the stolen motorcycle was never recovered no were the parts recovered. But somehow this person made some deal with the owner, which sounds like a bunch of BS to me..

Anyway details aside; anyone buying or selling motorcycles from people on this board should know who this person is; because I do not steal and I don't want to be assoiacated nor do I want to be aligned with motorcycle theives.

And you should know who he is so you don't get caught up in the same BS.

I'm airing this laundry because I'm damned sick of getting shafted; stealing is WRONG! if it's not yours you you fucking BUY IT.

Don't steal from other member of this board!

Chad

Is it not okay to just make the name public? This is why I don't like having BARFers pass by the house when I sell/buy something -

If you are 100% sure of what you are saying, I think you should go ahead and post his name up. I do buy and sell on here so please send me a PM.

I'd like to know who this is too.

What is a Mechanics Lien?

A mechanics lien is a "hold" against your property, filed by an unpaid contractor, subcontractor, laborer, or material supplier, and is recorded with the county recorder's office. If unpaid, it allows a foreclosure action, forcing the sale of the property in lieu of compensation.

A lien can result when the prime contractor (referred to as a "direct contractor" in mechanics lien revision statutes, effective July 1, 2012) has not paid subcontractors, laborers, or suppliers. Legally, the homeowner is ultimately responsible for payment — even if they already have paid the direct contractor.
What happens when a lien is filed against your property?

A lien can result in a range of problems, which include:

Foreclosure (if the homeowner doesn't pay the lien);
Double payment for the same job (if the homeowner pays the direct contractor, and he/she does not have to pay the subcontractor, laborer, or supplier); and/or
A recorded lien on the property title (which can affect the owner's ability to borrow against, refinance, or sell the property).

Trying to read between the lines, it looks like maybe this guy took Chad's parts in promising that he'll rebuild a bike with said parts and put a 'mechanic's lein' on it, in which after selling the bike, will give Chad some of the profits?

Instead of doing that, he sold the parts that were given to him?

I think that you should get the permission from a mod to avoid any punishment you might get but if he/she is indeed a thief, the name and BARF tag should be made a PSA for everyone

Not doubting there's a problem with Ironbutt getting the short end of the stick but I have a Mechanic Lien question...

Who is the registered owner of the bike in question?

Does the registered owner of the bike/frame have to request the parts/work to be done for the lien to be valid?

Edit: I think I might understand now. The OP wanted a lien put on the bike for money owed to the OP, for mechanic work unpaid for by the owner. The alleged thief said he could arrange for it, and instead sold the bike for parts.

Is that correct?

A person abandon a motorcycle that we had agreed I'd repair at my place for two years. I had the motorcycle, whole, for two years. I was going to put a lein on it becuase I had stored it fore two years.

I gave it to this person because he said he'd get a lean put on it and then I could LEGALLY sell this motorcycle.

The whole reason for the lean is so I could legally sell this motorcycle.

Should I say it again?

To LEGALLY SELL a motorcycle that is not mine; that had been abandon at my place, I need to put a lean on it..

Not part it out as quickly as possible.

Does anyone NOT understand that is you don't own somehting and you take it and sell it, that is STEALING.

Chad, while I appreciate your desire to inform the community, I strongly urge you to NOT post this person's name unless they have been convicted for theft.

If you post and for some reason are not 100% correct, said person can come back and sue you for libel. That would suck.

And thank you for clarifying.

I don't have to post his name. Everyone will know soon enough...

The OP is confusing and doesn't really explain what happened. "misrepresented himself as someone that could get a mechanics lean done". What does that mean, exactly? Were your parts stolen? It sounds like the owner of the bike has come to a satisfactory resolution? Who is the wronged party here?

I'd suggest not putting the name out there (even by PM) unless you're willing to provide exact details. I'm as curious as anyone, but if you're going to make accusations, make them direct and stand behind them. Just my 2 cents.

You're right, it is confusing; why would another Barfer steal from another barfer?

If someone said; "I can get a mechanics lien on that motorcycle."

And you took them on their word.. but they hocked the parts instead.

Thats pretty clearly stealing, isn't it?

This is exactly what happened.
