(04-24) 15:10 PDT San Francisco -- A motorcyclist was killed this morning in a collision with an SUV in the Outer Sunset District, San Francisco police said.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The incident happened at 12:45 a.m. at 48th Avenue and Quintara Street, said Officer Samson Chan. The motorcyclist suffered serious injuries and was taken to San Francisco General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a few hours later, Chan said.

The name of the motorcyclist has not been released, pending notification of his family.

The driver of the SUV remained at the scene and was not cited, Chan said. The incident is under investigation.

:( RIP rider

People drive and ride like retards in the sunset, even sober. I'm leaning to the motorcyclist being liable for what happened, but the SUV driver could have not seen him and fucked up. For him to die he must have been going at a high speed.

@ 12:45 am, I'm guessing someone was drunk or doing something really stupid. Not a lot of traffic at that hour in the Sunset.

As someone who lives in the Inner Sunset and frequently drives around The Avenues and Ocean Beach in the wee hours of the morning, I can vouch that there are a lot of drunk drivers in the area at that time, either coming home from bars in the city or the local pubs. The stop signs are inconsistent and the parked cars often hinder visibility at the intersection, so it's pretty dangerous for riders out there after 11pm.

Didn't know him, but RIP Nikolas. And ride safe everyone.
