Motorcyclist vs. Train - San Leandro

To have your life cut short by a reckless and careless person (the rider) is sad.

Agreed but probably an Adult with zero assets.
The parents of the woman killed can go after BF rider and gate proper assuming they have insurance or assets.

Liability only if they are lucky.

I could be wrong and I hope I am. Then again I am not a big pro sue culture guy so now I am wondering why I am typing this.

Prodded a memory from helping wife with psych homework.

Janis Groupthink Theory. Key phrase: 'When members striving for unanimity override their motivation to realistically appraise alternative courses of action.'

Way back when, I'd noticed that as a ride acquired each new member, the rate of group idiocy rose a notch. Got lucky because of my introversion, when I stopped riding with the group because it was too friendly, it was also the day they needed emergency services.

Yeah, Janis Groupthink mixed with testosterone toxicity . . . what could go wrong?

If someone else pays the tuition, it's okay for you to learn the lesson. That one is called 'Vicarious Learning'. Best deal in town.

Would be hard to convince me the group wasn't primarily male and tended heavily toward
"Big dick swingin' energy!"

SAN LEANDRO — An unlicensed motorcyclist struck by an Amtrak train last month, leaving him critically injured and his passenger dead after other cyclists raised a railroad crossing arm for riders to pass through, has been charged with felony gross vehicular manslaughter, according to court records and authorities.
Jarred Logan, 30, of San Jose, who was hospitalized, was also charged with infractions of not having a valid license to operate a motorcycle and a rail crossing violation.
It was not immediately known Friday if he remains hospitalized. There is no record of him being in custody and a $75,000 warrant has been issued for his arrest, according to court records.
The fatal collision happened about 2 p.m. Feb. 23 near the intersection of Hesperian Boulevard and Springlake Drive.

What took so long? He should have arrested the day of the accident.
Glad justice is catching up to him.

Seems like the right call. Good luck before the judge.

Tie him to the tracks and wait a bit. Maybe spread a few large garbage bags around to help with clean up.

I hope his decision haunts for the rest of his life and once he gets out he goes on to do something positive for society

That’s a lot to hope for. He wasn’t even licensed to ride which is a clue to his attitudes towards motorcycles.
