I'm going to see one more movie this weekend than cancel and get prorated.

They just announced annual holders can now only see 3 movies a month. Annual holders were supposed to not be impacted by the new rules.

So that's the straw for me. That and the fact local movies were being blocked from the app even though there were more than half the seats left.

I bought mine from costco and talked to them on live chat, they issued me a refund for half of what I paid. I bought one for me and my fiance.

I think I can technically still use it until January but it's really a hassle. Think I'm done and gonna look into AMC's plan.

I stopped going to the movies as soon as I got myself a nice home theater and came to the realization that I seem to hate the public.

Same here ... not quite as nice as the Century 16 but still ... no humans to contend with.

Yeah. Affordable quality home theater stuff has made movie going a lot less common for a lot of people.

I still prefer to see action movies and all the Marvel movies in theaters though. because nerd

Assigned seating made movies a lot nicer too. I hate lines.

Lol go check out the new theatres they got leather recliners and rotating tables for your food. They went from like 200+ seats to like 60 per screen at my local theatre.

And they serve alcohol and restaurant food, it's becoming another "thing" to do again.

:laughing

good luck getting your money back, better do it soon before that bankruptcy hits.

But for the decadence of self buttering my popcorn I agree:rolleyes

The trick is to insert a straw into the popcorn bucket and pour the butter down through it, working the straw towards the top as you reach the desired butter saturation in each layer.

There's an anal porn joke in there somewhere.

that's too bad. their business model wasn't sustainable. 3 movies x ~$15 per is ~$45 normally...still one hell of a savings, isn't it? but i get that you want to stand your ground.

Damn GixxerJeff!!

You have the BEST lines in this entire thread!!:rofl

My Wife and I go to Century 16 in Mtn View about 2X's per month. I have picked up those movie pass brochures several times, but I never pulled the trigger, after reading about their ever changing rules.

their goal wasn't ever to be sustainable. It was a build v buy to the industry. They indicated they would be "profitable" at scale of about 5M users but every projection I read said never...

Unfortunately, the industry decided to build :laughing

I do think that it made for positive change in the industry Theaters are now producing options for subscription based rather than transaction based revenue streams. I think it will be a net positive for the consumer.

They are also seeming to add more of an experience. No longer shitty chairs and sticky floors. I see some places started adding better food options etc.

I hated paying tons of money for a sketchy uncomfortable chair, in a dirty theater with crap food options.
