Light My Fire--50 years ago

Yesterday, NPR replayed a 1998 interview with Ray Manzarek: An Archival Interview with Ray Manzarek, Keyboardist for The Doors (to listen, press the PLAY button thingie on the upper left of the page). Fascinating account of how the song came to be, complete with John Coltrane and Bach influences. So much for the idea that they just did a lot of drugs, recorded hours of tracks, and let the producer mix 'em into a hit.

It was a game changer, #1 on the charts 50 years ago today:
