My Gf is 5 FT , i need bike recommendation

But it seems like all gear is made for 5'0" people. I'm only 6'1" (160lb) but I have a bitch of a time finding gear that fits...

I can't find stuff that fits either! i have to get the smallest a* offers! so there!

Hi there, I'm 4"11 and a quarter, 102 -105 lbs. :) I own an 09 Ninja 250r. The previous owner had it lowered by 1', and I am on my tippy toe. I'm a newbie, so the first few rides were intimidating, but overtime, I've gotten used to it. I rarely put two feet on the ground, and I can flat foot one side with no problem. No need to shave my seat. The boots help a lot too. I can't think of the brand right now, but I got them for $80 at Road Riders and they look similar to the ones posted above. They are very comfy and will give you a tiny bit of extra height. I definitely recommend the 250r for your gf, good luck!

Any female on here about the same height, or dudes ? what bike do you ride comfortably,..i can look into lowering the bike too...a tad bit...so guys/gals..know of any biker that you know that are the same height or shorter? what bike do they ride?

P.S..preferable a sport type...i am not considering a cruiser type or anything other than sport..no scooter either ;-) ( my gf don't like em)

i believe you wont find anything unless you buy her a pocket bike, another option would be to find a taller GF lol

We have a girl at the gym who was 5'0" and she rode a Ducati Monster with no trouble.

^^ +1 - a friend's wife was fairly short (asian) and she rode a Monster - a 600 maybe? The smallest (and cheapest) of the monsters. They have a really low saddle height for a non-cruiser style of bike.

That 's coz most of the good stuff is Italian. Ever been there? 5'10" is considered tall in Italy.

The hayabusa has a really short seat height. Just thought I'd throw it out there.

my girl is 5'3" and she can't flat foot my 250... either tippy toes or lean to one side...

me: at 5'2" ninja 250 to ninja 500 to current 650r, able to comfortably get a solid foot down on all of them with minor ass-shift/weight transfer.......be nice to have another inch in height but not necessary. if you're 5'3" I'd stop fussing over the details, find a bike and get out and ride....:thumbup

I can't believe nobody posted this:

Short Bike List

While slightly out of date, it is THE definitive list for short bikers. Of course, my short friend rides a Duc 750ss. But, hey!

At 6'3" I don't usually have any issues reaching the ground - but the BMW R1200GS Adventure is a bit of a stretch. I'd probably pass on getting one of those for your ceiling clearance enabled girlfriend.

Great resource for short riders! :thumbup

Not to threadjack or anything, but thanks for asking this question because I am also looking for my first (real) bike and I've had a helluva time finding a bike/gear that will fit my 5' 4" self.

This thread had a lot of good information for me too. Thanks everyone!

Carry on :)

I'm 5'1. Started out on a VTR250 which i could comfortably put my feet down on (but not flat foot). Found my roommates ninja 250 to be higher with a wider seat, but still light enough to put tip toes down comfortably. Also, a lowered DRZ400 sm is still high but definitely much lighter than any other sports bike I've ridden. With time and experience she should get comfortable enough to slide over on the seat and stabilize the bike with just one foot. Thats what I can now do on my f4i.

How do you back up the F4i?

When I have to move a bike around, I hop off, keep the sidestand up, lean it into my right hip, and move it around. Much quicker and more controlled than trying to waddle around while on the bike.

There is a entire group of bikes that are smaller than a Ninja 250 and they are more fun bikes as well. If you can get a hold of any of the following, she will have no issue and be on a bike that was nearly meant for her:

CBR 400 (inline 4)
VFR 400 (V4)
RVF 400 (V4)

These are grey market bikes, but here in Cali we have more available then anywhere in the Country. If you two would like to meet and do a test fit, I'd be more than happy to make that happen.

Michael

I would not recommend any of the grey bikes for a newbie. Imagine the agony if you drop/crash one of those babies. I know what it feels like. :laughing

One hand or both hands on the bars?

Rebel 250. Super low seat height. It comes up to the top of my kneecap.

D'oh! I felt like a true dumbass the first time I watched someone do that- simple, and oh so effective!
