Figured this is a good spot to share a little about my journey back to riding. Goal is to be on a bike in 4 months and be fully back to uninjured old man status in a year.

Just left Stanford

Arrived at the Vi
The transport dudes said this is the place Hollywood types send their parents and it used to be a Hilton. Old school Fancy fore sure.

Once in bed they had lunch delivered within minutes. Actually to fancy for me but the Mrs is looking forward to the leftovers. :laughing

All my staff are popping by to introduce themselves and each will do a more detailed visit over the afternoon.

Figure I will be here for a week or so. Proper looking spot for a lucky karma kind of guy.

The actual PT is the one thing I am nervous about.
No pain meds for the road or any this AM so feeling the pain for sure. 7 of 10. :(

the squash and potatoes are to help
you poop. eat your veggies!

Food looks almost as good as that French stuff Butch is eating. 4 months and a year back to OG condition is doable. Keep up on the PT/

Food looks superb. I'm sure the PT will match. Good workouts ahead!

Congratulations.

nice digs, @budman! did you have a separate disability insurance policy besides CA SDI? rest well, you've got some work to do :teeth :thumbup

You will come back healthier than pre fall. With a little luck we have the best healthcare in the world

Bud to cheer you up, try my best. You’re lucky to be alive.

• if you were a horse it would be all over; that place you layed at the stairs/ a bullet to the cranium.

since you’re human • Surgeons have been treating femur fractures for thousands of years. Evidence from ancient Egypt, around 1600 BCE, in the Edwin Smith Papyrus, describes treatments for broken bones. However, effective surgical repair, particularly with internal fixation methods like plates, screws, and rods, began developing in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The introduction of aseptic techniques, anesthesia, and X-rays significantly improved outcomes. Modern techniques, such as intramedullary nailing for femoral fractures, were pioneered during World War II by Gerhard Küntscher.

•To repair a broken bone, it is recommended to eat a high protein diet with lots of fruit and vegetables. A balanced diet sufficient in fruits and vegetables for their vitamins, minerals, and alkalinizing substrates is thought to be most beneficial. Make sure to get the right amount of calcium and Vitamin D in the diet.

Medicare is what I got.
Had several tasks to do today.

One was a social interview / cognitive analysis.
I killed it.

She said as we go through the interview I will provide a word you will need to tell me at the end.
They were blue / socks / bed. When we got to the end she asked if I could remember the words.

Smart ass me said “no but I do recall” Smiled and put them into a sentence. “I never go to bed wearing blue socks”

She said ok you are sharp for sure and then I gave her 5 minutes on why older folks who ride motorcycles have smarter brains. 😜

Two different PT’s each day. Today was a muggerFer. This was the last of the day. after getting to a sit up position the dude said I need to give you a cognitive test.

I immediately blurted out do you want to know if I go to bed in blue socks. He was :wtf and I told him those we Rose’s words earlier in the day and we both chuckled. He said you remembered the words and her name. Your good. He got the same moto brain power speech. :laughing

Got to work and completed his tasks. Yeah it hurt and he asked several times do you need to stop.

Nope just a second to refocus.

Got thru it without screaming but unpleasant.
Hopefully meds back in the program tomorrow will help.

Work to do. Food to eat.
Life to live….. after some rest.

Looks like a nice facility. Decent food. On staff analysts and Physical Torturers. (Oh wait, it's not torture if it's PT)

Did a lot of PT never yelled, but have heard some. Have had tears a few times, but you have to do it.

Noting all help with pain left the building.
Now the shoulder (arthritis) that I just started PT on last week is hurting throbbing like a mofo. For sure used it during my PT sessions. Can’t get up with a broken leg without using the shoulders.

Guess the meds were masking that pain. :facepalm.

Trying to freeze the pain out with multiple ice bags.

I'm rooting for you Dennis! From at least your posts, the spirit is strong.. I can truly sympathize with you and what you're feeling behind the scenes..
Said that, take your meds painkillers, then this (if veggies and other things don't help) - this will have you running to the right place in no time (PT+the good times) -

If you don't mind Bud, post the meds and dosages of each- and changes as they occur. Would be interesting to chart it and watch how quickly (or not) it goes down- and if it meets your and the Doc's expectations.
