Nacimiento Fergusson road

There's dispersed out by memorial as well. It also looks like the two campgrounds on N/F are open. I've also dispersed right off N/F near the two campgrounds. Signs clearly state where you cannot camp.

Here's the current status of roads and camping in that area:

The dispersed camping out there is fantastic. One of my favorite places. We've never seen another person out there, although that might have changed now. This was a few years ago on New Year's Eve...our camper van with bikes on trailer is just out of the photo on the other side of the tree on the right. Lots of fun rock to clamber about on, bedrock mortars (Indian grinding holes) and cool stuff to explore...

Lots of cool critters and birds out there, too. This guy hung out with us under a massive tree for about 2 hours or so, cleaning himself, rolling around in the grass and then taking a nap!

I love that photo, captures the essence. And, and a BOBCAT!

I think you can scurry down to the Arroyo Seco too, from Escondido, but I've never done it. There's a sportsman's club not far from Memorial, basically a bbq, that has a nice little stream fed pool to wash away the dust of your day.

I've camped there a few times and found it hit or miss. Sometimes crowded and sometimes mostly empty.

One of my favorites too.

AFAIK, it's (permanently) closed. It was certainly closed a couple of months ago, and when I spoke to a local there (a bar owner), they said their understanding was that it was going to remain so for the foreseeable future.

@WoodsChick and @Cabrito, nice pics!

Cabrito's are nicer! He was there in the spring! :laughing
I've been there in fall and winter, so I missed the flowers. Who knows, maybe that's why I've missed other people being there, too?

There's a creek that runs right behind Memorial. I'm sure it's dry now, but it was great the last time I was there in the winter.

More bobcat just because. He had to know we were there...he was looking right at me as I was snapping pics! He looked right at us when he wandered off a few hours later, too...
