Nation-wide climate strike by students

Climate change is practically a religion at this point. The youth have been indoctrinated into it.

Funny, I've been saying the same thing about liberals and California

Funny I've been saying the same thing about conservatives and our town.........

Way to turn this political bro.[/QUOTE]

If you think climate change isn't political, you haven't been paying attention

Climate change is not at all a political issue. It's an environmental issue that people like you make political. This whole thread was doing fine until you came in with the typical bullshit "If the libs...." comment.

Adults don't want a child lecturing to them on what they already know, especially in that tone of voice.

She won't be forgotten, for speaking out. The U.N. might have held these meetings before but never have they had someone who explained it from her perspective (she and younger generations inheriting the earth and its problems when we're long gone), holding them accountable to respond and daring them to commit to planning and acting instead of blowing hot air

The yacht she travelled on I heard did not run on any fossil fuel. She's going to be the poster child, not fade into the shadows

:laughing

You are right it is political. In 90s both parties believed in it. Now only one. The other has members that bring snow on Senate floor as a proof that everything is fine.
Interesting that it also coincides with Koch $$$ starting to roll in.

Male ego makes her speech an extremely difficult pill to swallow. Who tf is this foreign teenage girl (that's three strikes btw) to tell me I've been fucking up?!? But yeah, we've been fucking up and she's right, doubling down only makes us look worse.

Protesters gearing up downtown this morning. Blocked off Montgomery seeking "Climate Justice" and signs set up ready to go at Mont/Market.

Like a child who is denied candy at the grocery store.

More like a child who sees her parents and adults spent away food, housing, her future tuition money they have and when they ran out put it on credit cards on ice cream and other frivolous things. Speaks out only to have some insecure or just sad angry adults belittle, and dismiss her.

Lol I like how grown people are so str8 up butthurt about this and are tone-policing a kid.

Male fragility is a major source of most our societal ills

I found her speech to be very powerful, definitely felt a twinge of guilt about my carbon footprint.
I know people generally think teenagers are frivolous and think only of immediate gratification but I've found some teenagers, especially females, to be some of the most serious people I've run into.

It's funny to be to call the sailing ship she crossed the Atlantic on a yacht, it's really a racing sailboat, not at all luxurious.

more on the boat she sailed on

The interior of Malizia is very bare and fully optimised for high-speed offshore racing. This includes keeping the weight of the boat and all its equipment down to a minimum. We have made no major alterations in view of the trip to New York except for fitting curtains in front of the bunk as well as adding comfortable mattresses for better sleeping. Note that there are no toilet, fixed shower, cooking facilities and proper beds. The boat’s interior is characterised by lack of comfort. Greta and her team are fully aware of the living conditions to be expected on board.

I seriously doubt many on this board have the endurance and intestinal fortitude to make such a journey.
