Need advice - looking for adventure motorcycle

Funny. They'll happily sell me an owners manual for my F750 GS that I can download from BMW, but they don't have the repair manual.

Edit to original thread - now considering a sport tourer. I’m a taller guy - over 6’ but under 6’5”.

So you are keeping your GSXR, right? If so, personally, I would pick a very different bike vs. an inline 4 Japanese bike with a bit higher bar and a bit lower pegs (like the Ninja 1000 and new Suzuki GT). But if you like that configuration/idea you might want to also consider the Versys 1000, more comfy than the Ninja or (possibly) the GT.

I would consider a KTM 890 Adventure. Or maybe a 790 if the 890 breaks the budget. You could go ride dirt roads, take trips, very different from your GSXR, and very easy to sell it it if you aren't thrilled or change your mind.

I would also consider a used KTM 1290 GT. I would skip dirt roads on that one. Again, very different from the GSXR. But fast, fun, fairly comfortable, has side cases.

Also a BMW GS that fits your budget. For me, I'd rather have either the 790/890 or 1290 GT, but tons of people get the BMW GS's and love them. Also, a GSA would fit a larger/taller person well.

Thanks for all of the recommendations. Unfortunately, I have to sell the gsxr 1000. I have a track bike and my wife isn’t going to let me have three bikes.

That is quite a range -me too. :teeth

Seriously consider the BMW RT. I've been riding them for 15 years and love them. They handle well and are easy to maintain, as you don't need to dig for a couple of hours just to get to the valves. One of the best benefits is that Law Enforcement does not seem to notice them as much as something sportier looking. Insurance rates are good too.

Lowered and brought forward rear sets, helibars installed (less pressure on my arms and wrist), and a new clutch. Also softened up the front suspension on my 06 gsxr 1000. Saddlemen seat ordered. I’m going to take it on some longer rides to see how it goes. Since I have a trailer, I may just bring my bike with me on long trips. I can use the trailer to pitch a tent on or haul other bikes. First trip is Big Sur.
