Heroic racing apparel? has anyone heard of this company? Its based in queens NY. I really really like the suit and I was quoted a great price on a custom. When I searched the HRA online I read only good things, but the problem is that there are only maybe 2 pages of reviews I could find. Since I am no expert on stitching and leather I was hoping maybe someone here had some expert opinion on the build quality based on these pictures I included. I stopped by helimot today and I was very impressed with there suits, quality, reputation, factory, and service....but its alot more expensive for one of there suits so im hoping the HRA suits check out with you guys.

Looks like crap to me. Way too many panels; too much stitching. I wouldn't touch it.

Not an expert, but I agree with the assessment.

I have an RST 2-piece made from tons of panels. It did not matter that the suit was triple stitched. What mattered was each edge of the panels was essentially a step that would catch when sliding and put stress on the seams. In a slower lowside at Sears, the suit tore through stitching a bit at the hip, where the silver strip on the Heroic suit is. It was relatively mild sliding on my hip and right arm and the suit held up, but I do not want to think what might have happened to the hip seam if I was faster.

Compare it to a more expensive suit, and you'll see larger pieces with fewer panels.

I'd say spring for a different suit. I ended up getting a Laguna Seca.

I see a lot of gimmickery in that suit. As they say in Texas- all hat and no cattle. Take a trip to Helimot and see what a real custom suit looks like. Then you'll have a good point of reference with which to judge other suits.

IIRC he's improved the quality.

Funny how people usually complain about the price of Helimot's suits. You do know that his follow-up support is exemplary, right? I'd much rather deal with him than some stranger on the east coast. You get what you pay for...

dont take it wrong, I wasnt complaining in anyway about the prices at all. Just pointing out that they are the most expensive option, But it seems worth it. when i was at the werehouse yesterday they showed me the back were the suits were being made in the same building they are sold in.

While money doesn't always guarantee quality, I'll just say this:

In that instantaneous moment where you and the bike no longer have contact and the ground comes awfully fast, is how much your gear cost going to the first thought in your mind?

Ok, the tilt reviews... I know of people crashing in a tilt suit. The suit definately was damaged but... That's what happens when u crash right. The part to focus on is that the suit prevented injury in all the cases that I've heard of. Of course if money is no issue helimot is the only answer, people even say that you can't beat helimot with a trip to astars italy shop for custom fit.

I hope that isn't a custom fit in the pictures, the sleeves are about an inch and a half too short.

Thanx, Russ
