Where is the new DR650 tho?

New supermoto too

Ya, still having the 5 speed is a no go for me. And I have been wanting this bike for years.

They sure put a lot of electronics on that 38 HP motor! I applaud Suzuki for redesigning this model, but I’m sure most people were waiting for more…. 50ccs and 1 more gear would be expected!

Yawn.
5 speed
but it sees a roughly 2-horsepower drop in muscle, to 37.5 horsepower, with max power hitting at 8,000 rpm, 500 rpm higher than the old 400. It makes 27.3 pound-feet of torque, which is roughly the same as the old model, depending whose figures you believe.

37.5 isn't a drop in hp and 27.3lb/ft is more than before as far as I know.

But yeah, 5 speed was the one thing they needed to change.

Yeah, new case tooling is expensive.to add a 6 speed, But not making that investment shows Suzuki is not believing in the future of this bike beyond a short ROI window.

Yeah 5-speed boo. 37HP my hicomp DR650 had 30HP when I dyno'd it so that's plenty.

They supposedly changed the gearbox to be a wide ratio to account for only having 5 speeds, a 6th would have added more weight presumably. I don't hate it, but at the moment it's not a compelling reason to upgrade from my current 400s.
