California doesn't get grandfathering.

When I first moved here I had an SKS (cheapest deer gun I could afford). It was legal, then illegal, then needed to be registered. I finally sold it out of annoyance; I didn't want to wake up as a criminal because of politicians.

Later, I picked up a Browning BDM with for 15 round mags. When I wanted to sell it, I was restricted to selling to LEOs only.

And now it seems that no 15 round mags are grandfathered in any case.

Ridiculous (and ineffective).

Im in Tennessee right now where they didnt vote on anything like that, but they did abolish state income tax. :twofinger
 
So AR Pistols as of Jan 1st need to be registered in order to keep right? No way to make them featureless. Damn.

I might just slap a 16" barrel on mine and featureless it out. so lame.
 
AR pistol is registered as a handgun already, isn't it? Can't be converted to a rifle.
 
Pistol to rifle is ok, just not the other way. Can just plug the gas system and use it as single shot, then it's exempt from the semi-auto rules. Not sure if bbv2 does anything, need to read more...

Bbv2 will let you keep your AR pistol without registering or going featureless.
