Hey everyone, I’m a long time SF resident and new rider (~1.1k miles on my Ninja 500). Been having a blast riding around Bay Area.

Looking to get more experience, would be great to connect with other newer riders who want to improve together, or more experienced riders who don't mind riding with a newbie.

If anyone is around SF and wants to meet up for a ride or practice session, let me know!

Also, how do you guys deal with strong wind that seems to be coming from every direction possible? I can deal with strong coming from a consistent direction but somedays the wind on 280 before it intersects with 101 tosses me around unpredictably.

we had a really great thread on handling wind. The important thing was staying relaxed on the controls. I used to live in the 94134 near silver and san Bruno so I know the winds well. I will have to see if I can find and bump that thread.

Z2 is offering a road riders course in a few weeks. It’s definitely well worth taking.

94134 is actually where I live! I gotten much better with wind overall. The only place I have encountered the crazy omni-direction wind is 280 along mission bay, dogpatch, etc… area and only like after 4 pm. Been in strong wind on BB, GGB, 1 and few other places but the crosswind direction has been predictable. On the 280 stretch the direction changes every .5 seconds

Stay loose on the bars. Always. Otherwise you’re communicating more than needed. That bike wants to stay upright. I also find keeping my bikes at the high end of their rpm ranges helps.
