New Texas Gun Law....why not here ?

It's not the death penalty for theft or breaking and entering, it's the death penalty for carjacking and/or being too stupid to realize that breaking into occupied structures is dangerous.

Isn't the violent crime rate at pretty much an all time low? Or is that just an urban legend. But this is America- Fear your neighbor!!!! And I'd have fewer problems with any of this if the justice system didn't regularly put innocent people to death and have it out for the poor and minorities. And I can't wait to hear about someone knocking on a door late at night to get emergency help but then getting blown away with someone's 12 gauge, but hey you gotta defend you yourself right? Shoot first, ask questions later.
I can tell you for a fact that in Richmond violent crime is up.

In fact, it is very likely up all over the bay area but the politicians aren't going to be advertising that. The only reason that murder rates look lower this year than last is because the criminals can't shoot worth a damn!

Supersixfour: "innocent death" is when a criminal kills someone you love with no legal reason. I'd like the ability to defend myself when needed. I don't give a shit if you don't. Don't knock on my door selling magazines and you won't get shot. I've got an email address you know!

That's not what I'm saying or implying. Though if you're telling me that if I knocked on your door to sell magazines that you'd kill me, well, that's fantastic. It's great to know there folks such as yourself out there. The point with this law is that it sounds like you could, simply claim it was self defense. Who's to know? Only one person left to tell the tale. And that's incredibly stupid.

My point was that such a blank check type of law like the one in Texas probably has unintended consequences that no one has thought about.

do you really want to have to stop (hesitate) and think about what someones (strangers) intentions are if you wake up and they're standing in your bedroom doorway?

How ironic that you, who knows NOTHING about the men in the picture, accuse THEM of being racist.

A picture of ~12 white boys all with guns tells a whole story in itself. I also got $10 bucks says these boys would have worn some white cone shaped hats and masks and burned some crosses had they lived in the early 1800's.

I don't think he means a home invasion scenario. The perp in that situation would have to explain why he was in your home in the first place. I think he is refering to a chance street encounter without witnesses. A person could be murdered and all the murderer would have to do is place a weapon and make up a story.

No, you're wrong. Your opinion is wrong and your way of thinking is wrong. You need to reeducate yourself on this matter completely, because you have no idea what you're talking about.

38 states have right to carry legislation, and people carry weapons all the time. Plenty of states have "castle"-type laws that say you have no duty to retreat in defense of your life and property. You don't hear of blood flowing in the streets from those states.

How many of those 38 states have cities larger than Manteca?

I just see that movie scene where some kids go to rob a hamburger joint and 12 people including a little old lady pull out there weapon of choice and stop them... surprise!

Right to carry states seem to be doing fine..

Uh huh, as soon as anyone says anything remotely close to an insult to white folks, regardless what they did, say, or look like, the naysayer gets blasted. But anything about colored folks can be ridiculed and joked about without a care in the world. Like I said, the picture tells me all I need to know. All I said was those boys probably would have had themselves a good ol' time back in da day with whites hatin on all others feelings being so popular, are you telling me you disagree with my assessment of the picture? So, let's say those were all blacks with guns and their pants down to their knees and wearing black hoodies, would it be wrong of me to assume those were good for nothing lowlife scum from Oakland? Or should I be forced to give them the benefit of the doubt and accept them as good, 'don't want no trouble' law abiding citizens? Hey, don't get mad at me for tellin it like it is, it's something that many here are afraid to do for fear of repercussions on the board.

So you don't hear about similar problems in Miama, Cincinnati, Detroit, Washington DC? Seriously? Does anyone here really think that this law in Texas will genuinely decrease the crime rate? And I honestly don't have have a problem with "castle laws", but the Texas law takes it a few steps further does it not?

In this part of the state the high crime areas are limited to mainly youth-on-youth crime. Fresno, Salinas, Richmond, etc... do you think this law would have an effect there? Or would it just make the rather paranoid amongst us feel better until they can think of something else to worry about?

All right Mr. Statistics. Find a city above.......lets say......Chatannoga, Tennessee and the inhabitants need to wear shoes besides on Sunday.
