Hi, I'm Nora! I found out about this forum from friends and am so glad this community exists. Excited to meet y'all!

I took the MSF course and got my M1 last year, looked at where I am in life and my risk profile... and decided on a Kymco maxi scooter for my first ride. 😅 Maybe I'll think about a bike eventually, but this thing has been feeling great to ride around town. And it's gotten me out riding most days this month, for commutes, shopping, and some parking lot practice. So I say that is a big win!

I'm in East Bay, ATGATT, and eventually hoping to find other riders who want to do chill rides together, and who won't roast me tooo much for my choice of 2 wheels! 😅

Welcome! My wife of two and a half months, Elfin, got back in the saddle after a long hiatus. We got her a Kawasaki Z400. She is having a great time. She is riding her first Rally in a couple weeks.
Seat time. There is no substitute. The camaraderie is wonderful too.

You might enjoy this Rally in the link above…
The new one is the BARF Nearby Family Rally. We are headed to Lakeport and it will be family and dog friendly so you can bring those you love along if you wish too or meet them there so you can ride. ThumperX has joined the Rally Master crew to bring BARF a 5th Rally and one that hopefully will bring more community members out who have not felt the Rally love!

Welcome
Don’t minimize your choice of a scooter. They are fun and so much easier to operate than a bigger bike.
More economical too.

I’m in Pleasanton. Where in the East Bay are you?

Great to see the excitement of a first ride.

Good to have you join us!!

Many smiles with your miles!! :ride

Thanks, I might be busy during those days, but never know - will see!

Yeah, scooters are pretty great. If I was more secure in my masculinity I would probably would have been commuting on one for decades.

Regardless, welcome to teh BARFs :bigbarf

Hope to see you on the road :ride

I appreciate it. Maybe I watched one too many YouTube videos about motorcycles vs scooters and the grief they get. I am loving my 60+ MPG, for sure. :)

I'm up in Alameda. Just moved to the Bay in March and still exploring!

Hi Nora! 2 words, Scooters rock!! Would love to catch you at a rally or meet or just out for a ride.

as long as you have two wheels (even that is debatable) then you are welcome here! :ride

Welcome! Never tried a scooter, but they do look fun. This respected moto journalist raves about his,
Even did a trackday on it.

Great video. Scooters are so practical and useful.

In the Philippines where my wife is from they rule the day.
All the delivery drivers and ride share companies use scooters almost exclusively. It’s THE mode of transportation for all who can afford one.
They handle Manila traffic, muddy rutted roads and can squeeze into tight spaces with ease.

They don’t cost a fortune to own and operate and are clutchless so it’s twist-and-go to get around.
