NFL 2018/2019 Thread

Allen, Rosen, Mayfield, Darnold.....

CLE could take Saquan and not be able to miss on QB either, and still get McCarron or someone in FA. i could see them not spending on AJ and maybe getting Bradford or someone on a one year show me contract

i think Cousins is going to Denver or Jets (80 / 20)

That assumes you think all 4 QBs are the same, which they aren't.

meh, with the crappy rate of success of QB picks they may as well be the same person. different attributes, sure, but same likelihood of failure

specially since i don't think anyone going to the Browns will have a great environment to grow in...

Eh, you could do a LOT worse than having Josh Gordon, David Njoku, Duke Johnson, and Isiah Crowell to throw to, with Joe Thomas at LT.

Hue Jackson at HC is another story though.

Really if they went Rosen 1 and Barkely 4, they'd have a sneaky good offense next year.

You don't have to worry about someone else taking the guy you want if you wait to pick a QB at 4.

Yeah, right now the common thought is that the Browns take a QB at #1 and then Barkely at #4 if NY (QB) and Indy (Brad Chubb) pass on him.

i don't see Indy passing. They possibly have luck and just traded for Brissett.

Gore just got cut loose and they have that kid Alex Mack (?) in their backfield

Indy would be taking BPA as well as PoN while simultaneously not offending Luck

seems like a no brainer

so, for CLE to get him they'd have to start w him then get a guaranteed QB at #4

and really as long as they like 3 of those 4 QB's they're guaranteed one of them

I agree, Indy does not take a QB, but everyone is ranting about Chubb being the next JJ Watt and the need on Defense appears to be far greater for Indy than offense.

I find the idea of NYG taking a RB in the first round a bit far fetched to me, I think them stealing Chubb is a much more likely call, but with this new GM, who knows? Ownership has long demanded a conservative, "Best Player Available," strategy, so maybe Barkley is considered the best player on the board after the Browns take Darnold. My money is still on Rosen to NYG.

Rosen to NYG would be the perfect scenario for them.

Browns taking Darnold would be bad IMO. Rosen is the best QB in the draft and the most NFL ready. Darnold needs more work and that's not Hue Jackson's thing.

I think Rosen/Darnold/Barkley go 1-2-3

Yeah, I would not rule out Chubb going in the top 3 either. Barkley is kind of a wild card, most figured him for a Top 5 pick, which to me is crazy for a RB, but he was already expected to be the next Adrian Peterson BEFORE he blew it the fuck off the charts at the Combine, so even the Browns may consider him.

Honestly Barkley would be a "win now, last hurrah for Eli" pick at 2 for NYG also, while Rosen would be the

It's just so crazy to take a RB that high anymore. Even if he actually is the next AD, the best case scenario is he plays 5-7 years at an elite level. The league just chews up and spits out RBs not named Frank Gore so fast, it's not an economical move to use a such a high draft pick on a position with such a low shelf life.

i intentionally try not to romanticize athletes too much

Frank "the Inconvenient Truth" Gore makes it really fucking difficult to keep my business in my pants

I watched Montana, Rice, Steve Young, Bryant Young, Willis, Craig, Bowman, Owens, Lott, et al play...... Gore is by far my favorite Niner ever

no contest

his story is a solid Hallmark Lifetime channel movie about persevering through horrific injuries and worse coaching / team mates but still finding a way to be a stud and staying humble

at least.... i assume he's humble. i can't understand a word he says lol

(p.s. - please come home, Frank. please..... join the Jimmy G train. one ticket to the promised land. :party)

That is my thoughts too, but if you have a really top tier RB, it helps ease the pain as you build into a new QB over the next 5 years, you know?

Hell, for that matter if they think they can groom Davis Webb to take over and be good enough after the next year or two, take the big ass guard Nelson from ND at 2 and have the OLine set for the next handful of years.

I thought Webb did alright carrying a Cal team with his arm that had very little talent on either side of the line...
