I have a 2007 ninja 250 that I'm sick of; So it's time to have some fun :D

I want to chop the exhaust
Pros
-Lighter
-Louder
Cons
-Back pressure?
-Engine trouble?

Swingarm extender/widening
I would like to get a larger rear tire, a much larger rear tire
Is it possible??
Pros
-Looks (IMO)
Cons
-Handling?

Thanks Barfers!!

Perhaps a better idea would be to do mods that will make riding it more fun rather than ruining the ride? I can understand getting a lighter exhaust (if you do it right), but adding a heavier rear tire?

Work on the front suspension. Get some new rubber to replace the oem junk. Cheap, fun upgrades.

muzzy exhaust. You lose you center stand but it's lighter and sounds better slight performace incrase if you rejet and change airfilter.
Stock swing arm ftw. Get some sport deamons on there. Have your suspension done.

Prolly the best you can do for That bike. i dunno maybe im not a power whore but i think that bike is a shit load of fun, idk how you can be sick of it.
try to keep the revs between 10-11k unless you weight like 300lbs it should have enough power for you to have fun on.
i like the og250s better than the new ones myself.

Larger rear will rub on the swingarm. I believe somebody has thrown on an Avon 140 size tire but it was literally within millimeters of rubbing. Not a good idea. The bike was originally designed for 120. 130 is as large as I'd go.

And an extended swingarm? Honestly.

If you're tired of the bike, then clearly you don't know how to have fun. Do yourself a favor and sell it rather than chopping the shit out of it and making it somebody else's mess after you realize your mistake.

ya, the extended swingarm and a 300 rear tire would look perfect on that bike! it's exactly what it needs! good luck :thumbup

250 race bikes generally run 150 rears on weld-up 17" rears. You have to shave down part of a bolt on the swingarm that braces the rear brak so that the tire has clearance.

To OP --> you wanna make a frankenbike? I say go for it. :thumbup But widening and lengthening the swingarm and putting a huge rear on will make the bike handle like crap.

swap in a cr250 motor... THAT will be fun!

This is a unique approach. Spending money on a bike you're sick of? Do yourself a favor and sell it, spend the money on a better bike. Try an sv650 or a supermoto.

instead of buying an sv try swaping the frame, engine suspension wheels and body from an sv into your 250

To all the responses so far :rofl

I love you barfers!

So here's the thing. I love the stock 250, and I would love to take one to the track someday. But at this point I DO want a Frankenstein bike. I have a lot planned for this little bike. The swing arm extension would be so I can lower the rear seat, and it would look better when I chop half the seat off OR make is a solo cowl.
Raising the handle bars/making my own is also in plan for the project. I love the stock engine and I don't want to mess with this. This is going to me a first time project bike, and I believe the 250 is perfect for it. But since the bike will be used for long trips to see family far away, it wont be ridden everyday. I also like the 250 for the MPG, and I love that I'm 19 and gas shouldn't be much of an issue. I also have a 600 for the fun track times if i ever get the balls to go.

I'm just a curious soul who wants to build my own Frankenstein bike :teeth Talk about it how you will, but if you can, just help me along the way in my build. I can't do this on my own. Thanks Barfers! :party

i dunno it sound liek you want a rebel 250.

pls dont mangle your lovly 250.

$5,000 says nothing comes out of this..

Other than a 'destroyed' 250 being sold on CL as a 'custom' project that just *needs* to be finished..

^can i get in on that?
