Ninja 650r

if you need to put a limiter on the bike you shouldn't be riding that bike.

jeebus cripes, the bike isnt exactly powerful. there's no need to play with the throttle unless you're a pussy or you have no self control in which case you probably shouldnt even be riding a bicycle.

agreed

Its got plenty of torque however, so it can be pretty snappy in lower gears

Ninja 250 is the only bike I've really ridden (the Rebel at MSF hardly counts), so I can't say if a 650 is a fine beginner bike or not--I've certainly heard that it is, as it's not the monster the 6xxcc superbikes--R6, CBR600RR, ZX-6, Daytona--are.

I would like to, however, dispel the notion that you'll get bored with a 250 after a month or two. Had mine since March and I still get a SEG every time I ride it. The bike's capable of more than I am, and it's not boring in the slightest. I could definitely see wanting a 650 if you do lots of highway riding, but I rarely touch the superslab and when I have to the 250 is solidly adequate. I'd like to get a Triumph Speed Triple eventually, but the 250 will entertain me plenty until I can afford it. Even then, I'd like to be able to keep the 250 as a second bike.

Some videos of me riding my 250.

start in 250..if you are absolute new..see the crash analysis post of a guy crashed near dumbarton .. if you are not familiar with what you are doing..it could be disastrous..moreover a 650 to start with is heavy for your size.. i guess its around 360-370lbs..

I agree the 250's are a sweet starter bike for anyone wanting to ride. I myself have been searching for one but no luck so far. I would get a new one but with dealers charging $5000+ it's really not worth it. Finding a used one that does not require extra mechanical work to ensure you don't have any major headaches in the future is a pain IMHO. I wish the other manufactures like Honda, Suzuki, and Yamaha would put out 250's or even 500's with the same great style as the Ninja 250's.
