This seems like it would make a boring movie.

Los Angeles Times: Mystery shrouds colossal Brink’s heist at I-5 truck stop: Who stole millions in gems, gold?

When experts recall the most notorious jewelry heist in modern history, they talk about the tunneling into Hatton Garden in London or the Antwerp, Belgium, break-in that took months of planning.

Then there is the case of the heist earlier this month at the Flying J truck stop along Interstate 5 in the Grapevine.

In the early hours of July 11, two armed guards left their Brink’s big rig, giving a gang of thieves a 27-minute window to make the huge snatch, its total value still a mystery. Estimates range from $10 million to $100 million.

There's no such thing as a 27 minute theft at a truck stop on the grapevine that isn't an inside job.

you sound like you have specific information. where were you on the morning in question? do you watch the Lock Picking Lawyer on ewetoob?

The investigator said he wouldn’t describe the locking mechanism but acknowledged it would not be exceedingly difficult to crack

so the security plan was to rely on nobody trying too hard?

If he stops posting for a while again I'm gonna have to suspect he bought a very nice new bike.

Those armored trucks lug around 10-100million bucks like it's the norm?????

Surprised the cartel doesn't just takes over one of those weekly or something

:laughing

This was a tractor trailer, not one of the Brinks armored vans. Also, it was carrying goods from a jewelry trade show in San Mateo to the next show in Pasadena so it was not at all the 'norm'.

And the lucky thieves just happened to be at the right place at the right time to snatch it... yea, no, somebody sold out.

While I agree that it was most likely an inside job, I'm not sure how "inside" it had to be.
Anything from a former employee of the involved entities (jeweler, show venue, brinks, etc) to one of the guards using a burner phone to a jeweler bilking their insurance company.

But yeah someone saw the opportunity of a fucking LIFETIME and took it. :laughing

So the cartel should just stakeout brinks "tractor trailers"????

Surprised the cartel doesn't heist one of those weekly then if they have 10-100 million.

Bigger question does brinks go under or brinks insurance?

Coincidentally the drivers WERE sporting new Rolexes, but they got robbed outside a Whole Foods. Go figure... :laughing

A un disclosed route from San Mateo to LA......aka I5...:laughing
Had a tracking device......:rofl

The cartels seem to be doing just fine.
