Why do some riders have full gear (one-piece suit, stich', etc.) and boots but don't wear gloves? I think if you want to ride without gear that's your choice, but it just doesn't make sense to spend the $$$ to buy full gear and then just stop before the gloves.

I won't even bicycle with bare hands. I've fallen enough to know that covered hands are happy hands. Having hamburger meat for palms sucks.

I don't know. I figure gloves are right up there with the helmet as the last bits of gear I'll stop wearing. I mean shit, when you fall over, you put your hands down. They're the first body part to hit the pavement, why would anyone ride without gloves?

True story, one rider took off his gloves when we doing 9 because it was too hot :wtf he crashed in the 3rd turn in and peeled his skin bad.

Picking gravel in no fun :laughing

Maybe they ran out of money? :dunno

I have no idea, but if you're spending big bucks on a nice bike and gear throwing on some cheapo gloves shouldn't be an issue. It just makes me cringe when I think of them crashing with bare hands.

I've never seen anyone in full gear without gloves... that's just odd. Maybe they crashed earlier and their gloves were ruined? Or they left them on their bike at *$ and they got stolen? :dunno
But I'm with you on the no gloves thing... makes me cringe every time, too. Hands just seem so... I dunno... what's the word? Oh yeah- necessary.

I have no idea and I don't care: It's a winning combo. I need to go file my nails now.

Not to stir up trouble with the ATGATT crowd, but...

Before the mandatory helmet law, I'd still ride with gloves. Easy to burn a paw when reaching for the petcock while on-the-fly or some other part near a hot engine or manifold. Gliding bare hands on tires to check for headless nails or the like is asking for trouble. Taking a sharp hit to the fingers from some random road rock is easier to stay the course when gloves intervene.

Bicycle or motorcycle, for two-wheel riders, gloves are a tool for riding.

Back in the mid-80's I went to run a quick errand only about a mile away. I lived in a state that didn't require a helmet, but I wore mine anyway. I still don't know why I didn't put my gloves on, because they were with the helmet at the time. I managed to lose the front end from braking a bit too hard on a cold tire and I was down before I knew what happened. I scraped off a few chunks of skin on my right hand doing that. I still have the scars.

That's why I won't ride without gloves ever again, and I'm happy to relate that little story to any rider I see without gloves. But most of them don't want to hear advice like that.

what I don't understand is how people ride without jackets on.

I get fricking cold in any weather under 90 degrees.

just more comfortable with a jacket.

They needed to pick their nose?

Had to adjust the GoPro?

^^^Just got their nails done?^^^

It was Wolverine and he was riding away after slaughtering someone?

I go Bareback also.

Nothing gets between me and my throttle.

My 2.4 carat engagement ring won't fit under gloves.

I like to give the naked :twofinger.

Money doesn't even come close to being an excuse.

$200. gloves arent the only gloves worth wearing. Work gloves with a wrist cinch are sure miles better than bare skin.

There has to be a brain disconnect to skip on protective gear. When the disconnect is working..anything will justify the skip (or never start the) wearing of somethin gto protect in the rude meeting with the pavement.

The roaring majority of Harley riders riding in this heat, might as well be nude, if they hit the pavement.

I knew a guy that went for a slide whithout gloves and had to have his girlfriend do eveything for him (including wiping his ass) for weeks. That was about ten years ago and I still think about it when I put my gloves on. Can you imagine what it would be like to ask someone to wipe your ass?

Pro Tip: when you crash keep yor hand on the bars. Much sfer to crash for a number of reason, including safe hands, if youre still holding on to the bars.

The only scar that I have from crashing a motorcycle is from when I waited too long to let go of the bar when I lost the front end and went down on the right side. My hand was between the road and the throttle grip.

Your advice is not correct for all situations.

I wear gloves when I ride my scooter. I don't know how people ride without them. But then again, I have like 12 pairs of gloves that cover the entire range of riding probabilities. It's strange how gear accumulation develops over time. I also have a bunch of gear that I'm more than willing to give away, but the local peeps can never set a firm date on a gear giveaway/swap. And yes, gloves are in there.
