Like most after-market tach's, you wrap a wire (provided in the kit) around the source coil.
As for the exhaust, I feel it's a reasonable "asking price" and to add, a brand new exhaust lists for over $400

The instructions imply that it works with both 2 & 4 stroke motors, so yes
