have you ever read some old post and seen all these barfers that haven't been on in years... makes me sad wondering what happened to them... just sayin.

Some of the Old Skool BARFers think it's changed too much... they remember when it was so small, everyone knew each other. Others got married, had kids or whatever, and are busy off living their lives instead of being parked in front of a computer all night.
And sometimes, like Matt says, they're no longer with us. Stumbling across a post of Cygnus' a few weeks back had me choking back tears. :(

It's funny you brought up the subject, though, because I was just thinking last night about starting a thread about which BARFers you miss that don't post any more.
I miss the Ol' Maiden, and Silly Sod...

Hang around here long enough, you'll begin to understand why some leave. :laughing :laughing

And Matt, agreed dude. Even on FB seeing a post a friend made and knowing they're not around any longer just makes me misty eyed. :(

damn it Connie, now u got me all going :cry

on a happier note, Silly Sod posted up just a couple months back. kinda a "hello wtf is up barfers" kinda thread he started. havent seen him post since, but he's still around, typing/talking all with the lazy brittish engish type thing he does :laughign

This forum can be a tough one at times, since i joined back in 09, I've attended a memorial ride in SF that was at least 100 Bikes strong, and a backyard BBQ put on by(Hundo) Twojay. Being the stranger at the BBQ, i sat next to Signus, Mean dad,Obscura, Jakemate, Kornholio, Steve(MtnRacer) and was made to feel welcome being a total newbie, in a group that all knew each other on a personal basis. I was in total shock to think that i just met this great person, who made me feel welcome, being a stranger, to later read a post that hes no longer with us.

It doesn't help to be reading on a daily basis that a rider is down or worst succumb to injuries. Tomorrow is indeed not promised to no man, so at times when i really want to speak my mind, it makes sense to hold back some times. because no one want to fallout with someone to later hear that they passed, leaving that bitter taste in your mouth, because of what you said to them in a internet post.

While this is the internet and we can all pretty much say what we want to anyone without regret. its hard to live with regrets, ride safe out there, everyone. forgive me if i went off the thread topic, I'm a member on a few forums, and this is the forum that almost no one passed from natural causes.

while it's sad to miss the members of the past, it's up to the present ones to keep BARF going for the future...

Yep; sure has changed over the last decade. So many just faded away...

Change is always going to happen.. and we have not made a decade yet Dave.. :teeth

It was unique when there was but 500 members... but on the other hand there is lots more moto info streaming thru.

Perhaps. But you sure have to weed through plenty more crap in order to find it. :(

You folks think it's bad now, just wait until spring hits and the latest crop of n00bs registers this year... :p

Huh?

You wouldn't get too emotional if you had been hanging out at
ba.motorcycles on usenet as far back as when Al Gore plugged the internet together, or farther yet to the BBS Boards....
When the WWW had yet to be, and we clung on every text file we downloaded....

...but mostly we were riding too much to be bothered with all this Internet crap.

Just saying, as a resident dino-rider.
