"Out in BFE"......is this not a common phrase here?

Dude, I'm bay native who grew up with other bay natives BFE was always in heavy rotation, didn't hang around brats or plants.

Reformed redneck? Doesn't sound like somebody from the Bay Area at all..We only call other people that.

:laughing Just kidding. It's a big wide world, but I will never cop to universal usage here.
But I was the last person to ever hear Winner Winner Chicken Dinner too. I heard that from a Brit!

On another subject, but about usage, ever hear any "and whatnot" people? They say and whatnot over and over again to punctuate sentences. I used to sit at a lunch table at CCC with some folks from El Cerrito and this one guy said whatnot so much, that pretty soon, the whole table was saying it.... Cracked me up. You also have the "little puppy" people, who say that about any number of physical objects.

I always thought BFE was the BLM lands near Moab Utah. At least everyone that is a serious four wheeler or rock crawler knows about it. I grew up in Mendocino and have lived in Sonoma for half my life. Never heard BFE used casually.

I think if it takes more than 20 seconds to drive between one house and another, you're officially in Bumblefucksville.

Guys, I think BFE literally refers to Egypt, not some weird place in Illinois.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siwa_Oasis#Siwan_homosexual_tradition

"Siwa is of special interest to anthropologists and sociologists because of its historical acceptance of male homosexuality and even rituals of same-sex marriage—traditions that Egyptian authorities have sought to repress, with increasing success, since the early twentieth century. The practice probably arose because from ancient times unmarried men and adolescent boys were required to live and work together outside the town of Shali, secluded for several years from any access to available women."

I only know this because I have actually visited BFE. It's a pretty cool place, actually.

Best post of thread.:cool

California girl, I've known the tern BFE for ages, probably because I grew up there. Never heard of the tules/tulies--Tule fog though, that's something I'm acquainted with.

Thanks. Now I'm singing California Girls by KAty Perry in my head now.

If you dont know tules, you ain't much of a Californian. Nyuk. Shoe is on the other foot, momentarily, while I get bombed by all these BFE people. (Hmm. I wonder how many of them have parents from out-of-state.)

Man, I grew up in the sticks, I can take it. :p

May as well be Oregon. :D

It took me a while to remember all of our old local slams on people from Oregon. Nice.:laughing:laughing I haven't heard them in years. Ya know, moldy, webbed feat, fat, etc etc. I remember when I finally met somebody from oregon, this was in high school days, and I had a catalog of built-up impressions that they had to be compared against.....'

Good times. (which is something I never heard until that skit on SNL with the two NPR radio girls).
