:afm199This is a rant so if your not in the mood hit the back button now. So my wife's inside storage unit was broken into along with a dozen others. We go down there and its a mess. Your basic break and take. And nobody heard a thing. They took her wedding dress. A dozen of my daughters hand sewn (by my wife) competition skate dress'. Her jewelry armoire. Photo albums and CD's of said photos. And other stuff she's cataloging now.

Here's where it gets shitty. We call the sherriff. We wait, she cries, we wait some more. 3 hours and a gallon of tears later we call the sherriffs dept. again. The dispatcher is very rude and says,"We are not coming out, its too low a priority. Try again tommorrow." Click. I basically have to scoop my wife up off the ground and load her in the truck. A block, a single fucking city block down the street there are 3, three, THREE sherriffs vehicles parked at Starbucks. Thanks for fucken nothing.

She is back there today trying to get a police report, fingerprints, anything to help her feel better. I told her to check CL and print a wedding photo or 2 and take them to the local thrift stores but, its things like this that make me take matters into my own hands. Rant over.:afm199

I would be more pissed-off at the people who keep cutting the budget for law enforcement. That's a more appropriate target for your anger. Regarding the officers at the Starbucks, there just isn't enough information available to react one way or another. We all get breaks during our work day, right? We don't know why they were there or what they were doing. Perhaps they were responding to a robbery in progress? Who knows.

I feel for you and your wife, but I feel that your anger is misplaced.

The ATT operators who are fired for being too rude/lazy? Now you know where they go. I've had some terrible experiences calling 911 over at least 3 different counties.

IDK, 12 or more storage units broken into?

How many of them contained firearms? :thumbdown

How do you know there wasn't an armed robbery at Starbucks?:laughing

If you don't get a response today- go down to Eden Township Station and have the desk Officer request a supervisor.

^^ This.

And.... it will only get worse. We simply do not have the resources to address the "non violent" crimes which are being committed. Some police departments won't respond to non injury traffic collisions or property only crimes.

And thanks for prop 47, most of these offenders are now back on the streets.

But it operates on what is likely the false assumption that he is more angry at the police, which is really unlikely. It also suggests that when more than one bad thing happens, you're only allowed to mention the worst one.

I'd be more upset at the OP for having so much shit that it overflows onto a separate piece of property. Have less stuff, OP. Oh, and you you're a bad person.

:p

What does the storage biz owner/operator have to say?

Most of the u-stor place have security cams etc.

I would only put my most worthless possessions in a storage facility, of course that may not work for everyone.
I don't trust those places.

Um, isn't the title of the thread, "P.O.'ed At The Popo?" I don't really feel like any assumptions were required with regard to the target of the OP's anger. :dunno

Police simply aren't interested in a crime like that. Almost zero chance of being solved. Case triage, basically.

No assumptions to the target, more to the priority. As in, it's likely that he's level 10 angry at the thieves. That's a given that doesn't need to be mentioned, but he's also level 6 unhappy with the police, likely being mentioned because it came as a surprise. To say you'd be "more pissed-off" implies that he's not, when really he probably is.

You have my sympathies about the stolen stuff.

Unfortunately, I would imagine any cop coming out investigate is simply going to a tally of what was stolen.

I doubt they are going to dust for prints or even examine video tape.

Possibly the burglary unit may do that later, but not from a non-emergency call.

It would be nice if a cop came out but since they didn't, I would just tally the missing items, serial numbers, and even do some of the leg work by getting any videos, and bringing it down to the police station.
