So I'm down to my last 8 months of bike payments to SF Fire Credit union, and I am likely going to pay it down once I receive my tax refund.

Does the bank typically mail you the title automatically after or do you usually need to chase it down?

You should get your title in a month or two. You don't need to do anything.

Whenever I pay one off, I buy another one. Its the American way

I rent my garage to my roommate who has a car while since I only have a bike I park on the sidewalk in front of our door. That's to say, until I get the garage back I'm a one-bike rider :)

How about something sporty and classic? How about owning the first in the a line of Fine Italian thoroughbred machines designed by Massimo Tamburini that include the Ducati 916, 748, 996 & 998. Also the Cagiva Mito, MV Agusta F4, and how could you forget the MV Agusta Brutale?

What masterpiece am I talking about? Why, the very architype who's unique and beautiful body was gracelessly impersonated by none other than the Honda Hurricane?

I give you the 1987 Ducati Paso 750 :drool

/A guy can try, can't he?

I'll give you 10 hobo dollars. :nerd

I would contact the bank. When my GF paid off her car, she had to send her last payment to a special department that got her her title.

If you want to be "savvy", take that money and put it somewhere and continue to pay the remaining 8 months in monthly increments. If you've had the loan for a few years, most of the interest is built in to the beginning of your amortization schedule, so you're likely paying little to no interest towards the back end of your loan. :ride.

But yeah, it shouldn't take more than 2 weeks for you to get the title!

As RightCoast says: "I would contact the bank." Might have to send the last payment to a special department/address to get the title.

Thread jack...

"Il nostro passato ha un grande futuro"
Saw my first one at the '86 Laugna Seca AMA Superbike races. A guy parks his brand new "750" next to me. He rode up from Phoenix to see the race.

Rainey for the win, Shobert for 2nd, and Merkel 3rd. Merkel started in last place out of like 35 bikes cause he crashed in qualifying. All were riding Hondas.

But the '88 - "906" is pure moto sexyness.

You're right of course.

Now my income will be $375 a month higher...I should just bank it.

I regret selling my 750 paso. I would pick up another in a heart beat and swap in a new rear wheel. Good luck finding a replacement for the stocker.

I paid off my bike this year and I had to go to DMV to show them a letter from my credit union releasing their interest in the bike before I got the pink.

I like the way you think, essentially free use of your own money for 8 months. Still there is a lot to be said about the old school attitude of owning your bike outright. Having a reliable F800GS means that you can get a niche bike. Something that excels in one area and might even have a little character, a "supermodel" bike.
