Pet Insurance

My vet hates pet insurance because in many cases it's a huge scam. Like buying that extended warranty, it never covers what you need.

She says the amount of claims denied is staggering. Which leaves the people even more distraught.

fucking bank the monthly payments and get better results!

I started one of those threads. I'm $100/month for my 2 mini aussies. 4.5 years old they are.

Pretty healthy. I think they need their teeth cleaned but that's not an insurance thing. I believe I'm $500 deductible and its through healthy paws, one of the better ones. As long as nothing was pre-existing it's the deductible + the remainder after 90%.

Putting $100 in a roth ira doesnt work cuz I can touch it til I'm 60. If say one needs surgery cuz something is found, it's probably a $4k procedure. If the insurance works that $500 + 10% of $3,500 = $850 for $4,000 of work plus the years of the monthly premium. In this case it's been 1 year so...$1,850 for $4,000 of work.

I guess if it's anything less than the months you've paid then it's not worth it? :dunno All depends if you have $$ in the bank and can afford to shell out some.

This has me thinking if I should continue it or not now :| I'll have to call and find out whats covered again and go in for a yearly bend over check up.

Anyone do anesthesia teeth cleaning? I'm being quoted all over the place $400-$1,000 per dog.

For a Roth Ira there is no penalty for withdrawing what you put in. Tax implications occur only on earnings

Do all the math you want, it wont change a "pre existing condition" that gets them out of paying you a dime.

Last May my little buddy scratched until he bled, and then didn't stop.

Allergy testing $500, 6 months of Immunotherapy shots @ $100/month which were just renewed, and now we're using $169/month in doggy Claratin/Atopica.

Plus it covers a portion of his usual checkups. Did a lump submission of paperwork and received a check for $2800, and the premium went up 10% for this year to $366.

However, also know I've yet to 'lose money,' with an extended warranty: a 250% on the car one, 300% on my Vespa extended warranty, and I also use DynaBeads :loco

Hows it a pre-existing condition when they had a clean bill of health initially? I had to get a vet visit before my benefits started to shot they had nothing and were healthy. Now when/if something were to come up, nothing was pre existing.

Not saying they can't still try and screw you. I just followed what I was to follow in documenting nothing pre-existing.

Some breeds have a predisposition for certain issues. Boston Terriers are known to develop LP (luxating patella). Some insurance companies may try to stiff you on that. I checked the pdf link I posted earlier...not covered.
