is there a web site that give you the name of who a phone number is used by?
without you having to sign up and pay for?
getting text spam on my phone and just need to check out said numbers first. seeing as i do not even know how to block unknowns from it.
and on the phone side must have over a 1000 numbers listed as spam/robo calls.

.

No point: Originating number is likely spoofed.

I thought the no-call list was free?

I just google whatever weird number is calling me. If they're spam, it usually pops up as such.

not every number shows up on the spam listings.

and there used to be a phone book on line where one could get name address and such from a phone number.

I use my phone for business and personal. I get calls all the time. Many times I'll google an unknown number and they often have a spam history. So, I add it to the "Reject List" on my phone and I never have to deal with them again. Other times, if I pick up and it's a sales call, I'll inform them that I'm on the National and California State "Do Not Call" registries; and ask them to remove me from their call list, then, again, I add them to my "Reject" list as well. I've also reported violations though the https://donotcall.gov/ website. That's as far as I take it. :thumbup

You can pay a few dollars each to see who owns a number, but I see two problems with that: having to spend any money at all, and as has been pointed out... numbers can be spoofed. :dunno

None of those are accurate or even close.

Pm me the number.

You are welcome.

That site is another trash page trying to get money. Only site ive used that worked well was thatsthem.com. not as good as it used to be but still decent.

Lol it's not, I use it all the time to check unknown phone numbers. If they asked you for money, you are doing it wrong.

Don't download the app though (that's how they get their info).

Do a Yahoo search and if http://800notes.com/ pops up you can be sure is spam call of some sort.

Other yahoo links may show limited information. General location and if its a landline or cell phone.

You guys are not getting the info you want. I used the recommended websites and it said I was in Pleasanton Ca. I'm hundreds of miles away. I have never lived in Pleasanton. Its crap. My company pays monthly to locate people. If you want to be located pm me. I can find anyone.

I don't think anyone is trying to find the location, but rather if a certain phone number is a spammer/scammer.

If it is, it is probably a spoofed number (post 2), so looking it up is a waste of time.

Dunno about that, sure they use spoofed numbers, but from what I've seen, they use the same spoofed number quite a bit, so knowing that and blocking them helps.

I don't answer unknown numbers most of the time, unless I'm expecting a phone call from someone that I'm dealing with, say a recruiter or a shop. If I'm not expecting a call, I won't answer the phone, then look up the number. Most of the time, it's a known spam/scam number, so into the block list they go.

Interesting. I guess I've been lucky in that somehow I must have escaped getting on those kind of spam call lists - at least on my cell. Home number is another matter. Nothing but junk calls on that, and they're always from different numbers (or none at all).

I don't even have a home phone any more, which is what makes it even more annoying. Somehow, somewhere, my phone number is in a database being sold to these people. None of them obey the National Do Not Call Register.

Most of the time 800notes.com suffices for me. Most non-spam/scam calls don't end up in there, so if a phone number returns a hit on that page, it's most likely a number I want to block. :)
