Did any pro or non-pro photographers get any pics of the crashes in T10-T11 during Race 11 last Sunday? I really hope so.

So far I haven't seen any from Com, Dito or Gary Rather, and I'd really like pics for the scrapbook of the crash & aftermath, ie getting treated and loaded into the ambulance, bike pickup, leathers cutoff, that sort of thing. And I have no clue what other riders went down, I heard there were 3 or 4 bikes down in the oil? Was everybody else okay?

I got a mild concussion, apologies in advance if I asked this already a few times. :p

That was you, not moving? Man, I'm glad to hear that you're ok.

I was the third bike that crashed in the incident.

I have on-bike video of my crash. Man, I went down *fast*.

I wish they'd been waving the green/black uptrack a bit earlier. I spotted it just in time to go "hmm, where's the flui*BAM*"

I'm a little sore, but not bad. Bike just slid for a change, didn't tumble, so I just have the usual frameslider/controls work to fix up. My exhaust looks like a cheap beer can, but I think it still works ok. :)

sorry rick...i was in t10, but left not more than 5 mins before you'd crashed. :(

also, us photogs arent allowed to take pics of injured riders. i doubt gary or dito woulda cracked off any shots of them working on you...i've been scolded for doing that before (with the thinking that if it were ME being worked on, i'd like to have shots of it!).

this was a few mins before crash... :(

oh...I did NOT know that... :dunno

what you mean your not allowed to take photos-

Its apart of racing is it not? And when I go down on the track Joe you best be snapping a bunch of picts if they come and pick me up!

(trackday though no racing for me :) _

FWIW, I still have vivid picture in my head of you disappearing into a large sized cloud of dirt.
Next lap we stopped at 7 and came back in via the drag strip where I got a visual of three ambulances end to end and 4 or 5 guys muddled together looking down at something, I figure you.
Howz that?

Well that's weird because there was no dirt at all on my leathers/boots/gloves/helmet. Just a large amount of hay. My bike must have been the dirt demon, not me. Glad I separated from the bike!

I think there is a difference between shooting a crash from where you are and running onto the track and snapping shots after the wreckage ie: Thunderhill back straight crash.

I did take a few pics while the ambulance was working on the riders. You can't really see the oil but you can see where you ended up.

not scolded for that one...i wasnt taking people pics then...was taking pics of mangled bike parts...i'd never seen such carnage.

actually, i was scolded at buttonwillow for round 1 (but u guys don't go down there, so u wouldn't know :twofinger) when i was actually in T1 and min crashed in T1... as the NMPs ran by me, jordan yells "get some pics of me working!" so i did...then had to go see barbara. :teeth

Damn, I wrote a post last night about this and now I don't see it. Weird.... Anyway, my two cents, keep shooting, some will say you shouldn't, some say it's morbid, yada, yada... Remember I'm a newspaper shooter so my view is I SHOOT IT, and worry about what happens to it later. You can't go back and re-shoot it another time. If there are good reasons it shouldn't be printed or published then it doesn't happen. But in my opinion you should shoot it and file it away.

Well yeah as long as I'm not decapitated or other gore, I'd sure like the med-treatment pix for posterity. Crashing is part of racing, might as well make fun of it when you can.

I took a pic of Troy Corser once after he had crashed in WSB practice and suffered an internal injury, and the med crew was wheeling him to the ambulance. When his fiancee (now wife) saw me take a pic of him, buddy she gave me the evil stinkeye from hell. Made me feel all dirty.

Just so everyone understands what happened. It was'nt so much about taking the pictures. At least thats not why I called it in. Had Joe stayed back at a distance I never would have noticed, but he was right on the track at the incident. Just was'nt the right place to be at least from my point of view. I would have done the same to any of the photo guys. Sorry about the scolding, but there was'nt much else I could do, I've gotten a couple of those myself not always allot of fun.

i hear ya...tho, after snapping off a few shots of jordan getting his medic on, my next priority was tryin to help u guys and make your life easier by helping clean off all the crap on the track.

u guys work your asses off out there in the bazillion degree heat for no real compensation, and i feel like helping clean the track is the very least i can do, rather than stand idly, with my hands in my pockets.

just curious... would u guys prefer that i dont help clean up derbis/kick rocks and other crap off the track?

Sorry for the crappy quality, but here's footage from my on-board camera when I crashed in T10. Your motionless body is briefly visible when they roll my bike out of the crash zone.
