~Pics from the up north tard ride!!! dirt, goats, mud 2/17-18~

I'm about 5'6'' and I handle my stock height DRZ fairly well. I say fairly because I'm not good at actually riding it, but getting on and off and standing still I'm pretty good at :)
you handle that thing like a savage! Was cool to see you throwin it around and blast'n through the mud like it was a dirt bike!:thumbup

Good write up Mike! Yeah, it was a blast... we should have known Sherwood was going to be a hell of a road when we had to find a way ONTO the road in the first place.

Thanks for helping me swap out my clutch cable too. I knew it was going to break, or thought it might, but I didn't realize it'd be because I'd fall on my face at 15-20 miles per hour and break the cable!

For the record, I fell more than anyone on the dirt. Thats right bitches, fear!

Hapamoto,

Thanks for letting me use the helmet cam. It would have worked if we had put some electrical tape on it to help stabilize it -- but I didn't want to look like a retard. That caused the thing to bounce against the helmet and make a bad video.

On day-1 we put it on sideways and well... the video came out sideways (and too low). So it wasnt the camera's fault, operator error. Thanks again.

The best quote of the day:

<me> "Do you have dessert?"
<waitress> "No. Well, we had a pie but someone came in and bought the whole thing."

Gotta love small breakfast/lunch diners in Willits!

That was THE BEST meal I've ever had in Willits, It was a close tie with the Best meal I'd had in Gualalalalalala. :teeth

Everyone was invited, why weren't you there on your "real bike"?:wtf

you riding your BMW off-road.....:rofl-gasping for air-:rofl:rofl:rofl

You didn't invite me :(

I've done some light off-road riding on my R11S. My biggest problem would be the overly-soft alloy wheels and the ABS. I wonder if R11GS spoked wheels would mount.....

Hows the DRZ400 on the highway?

I'm thinking of getting another bike this year to do exactly what you guys did. :) I've been eyeballing the DRZ400 or a KLR. Obviously, the 400 handled the trail just fine, how do you think a pre-2008 KLR would have done?

I'm thinking of using the bike for a South America trip as well and I know the KLR has no shortage of gear for it to turn it into a great highway/dirt roads long distance bike. I love the DRZ400 though because it seems like it would handle dirt like a pro. I'm just concerned about how it would be on highways and how it would be for a setting up for a long, long ride.

Any comments would be appreciated.

(Awesome ride!!)

:rofl your biggest problem would be trying to keep that HEAVY pig upright on the muddy roads and sloppy stuff.

The ride was posted. Everyone was welcome. No one got a personal invite.:|

Please join me for a tard ride, we'll have some fun together and you can show me what a "real bike" can do. I'll make sure to send you a personal invitation too.
Looks like rain most of the week, should be exciting on my usual dirt roads this weekend.
Busy Sat? come out and play with me.:teeth

I was wondering the same Cruzer... Mike, looks like you guys had a great time! Love the pics and vids!

It just was! That road had been closed for who knows how long and it didn't seem to ever get sun.

Wow! Great pics and ride guys. Wished I was there to join ya, but no SM at the moment makes me sad :cry

Mike, bike is looking real good!:thumbup

Stop rubbing salt in my wounds.. The Ape is still at the shop, and Chi's DRZ mysteriously disappeared from my garage on Friday! He must have foreshadowed what was gonna happen if he left his bike in my garage any longer :)

damn you guys are sick. i always wanted one of those bikes but I cant even put both toes on the ground, I'm only 5'6. what kind of bike is the yellow one

I'm 5'5" and my DRZ is stock height and its fine. The bike is narrow and the suspension gives a bit more when you sit on it than a sportbike.
Try riding one.
