Pit Bull Hater at P.A. Dog Park

Thanks for all of the 'positive' feedback. I was really pissed on Friday night when that occurred. I guess because I have always treated my dogs as my kids- I get more offended than usual when someone 'constantly' bashes the breed in my presence, especially after meeting my dog, who is a great diplomat for the breed. I used to work for the City of Palo Alto's Animal Shelter and have dealt with many types of dogs- and Pitts are the best.
OK, I'm biased.

Goose-
I hate to say it, BUT I'd have to agree with you about (some)Chows. I was bitten two weeks ago for the second time by my friends Chow.
I was also bitten as a kid by the neighbors German Shephard- but that does not mean that ALL Shephards are bad.
Webbles- I'm with you Bro. I love Pitts and AmStaffs!!!!

I don't believe there is ANYTHING wrong with the Pitt breed. In fact as I write this my other (NOT the Husky) dog is laying across my feet under my desk. She is a beautifull brindle colored (with white socks and tail tip) Pitt/Terrier mix. Wish I had a way to post some pics. but Lefty still has an open invite to meet me at It's beach or Lighthouse field sometime. The friend with the pitt in my previuos post is my next door neighbor and his dogs visit ours and romp through my spacious garden everymorning with the three dogs that live here. We are out in the woods, NO ONE pens or ties there dogs here and they all play together. Only my aging Husky has a tendency to bite unprovoked and that is only due to his poor senses that he startles easily. He doesn't see, smell or hear paople approach so he gets tied in the eves. when neighbors may be taking walks.
I know for a fact the dog that attacked me was an unusual case. I lived across the street and know that his owner did not abuse her but played very roughly with her and neglected her for long periods of time. Even as an eleven year old I was intelegent enough not to blame or fear the breed of dog (or dog's in general).
When I said I understand how some people can feel that way it was because I believe that far to many people are weak minded sheep, easily manipulated but sensationalistic (is that a real word?) media stories That's why it pisses me off when otherwise intelegent adults fall victim to the ignorance of hype and hysteria. These people are creating unfounded new fears for themselves by watching TV. Hell! I was an actual "victim" and only a child at that but I'm not afraid of ANY dogs. Sometimes I think the human race is a lost cause between the self imposed pittfalls of ignorance, mass hysteria and racism most of us seem to suffer from.

Rant off... :loser

I hear ya bro, sorry if I misunderstood you. I have a neighbor who has a Pitt that gets ignored and barks his head off. I think that this dog may end up biting someone, because he is ignored all of the time. When he was a puppie, (read -Cute) the lady would walk him all of the time and spend time with him, now that the 'cuteness' has worn off- the dog never gets any attention and spends ALL evening barking his head off. He is super friendly, but if you were left alone for long periods of time w/o any affection (no offense Cardinal03) you too would go a little stir crazy.

---------------------->I love me some terriers
but please, using the word cunt hurts my mom.

Bullet Love

i personally love big dogs (little dogs too) especially rottweilers.... i've never been attacked by any dogs in my entire life... even the vicious looking ones or abused dogs seem to get along w/me....... the thing is, animals have sixth sense about these things... if you're afraid or you're unfriendly, they know it and they'll react that way..... i totally believe this because i've never met an infant child that won't cry in my arms.... i hate kids and i think they can sense that too... i'll smile 'n be nice but they still cry... but oh well who cares..... i love dogs, not babies :p

I need to vent. Last night I took my dog to a local school where dog owners meet up and let their dogs play. I was the first one there with mu 5 y/o AmStaff who is the most well socialized Pitt I've ever met. He is super friendly with everyone and everything.
When I saw the bitch coming with her "Labradoodle":laughing
I said "he's VERY friendly". She then proceeded to ask me about 5 times; "Is he vicious"? I kept telling her "no, hes VERY friendly with people and dogs". The cunt still would not drop it. Her dog and my dog have now been playing for about 5 minutes (her dog was chasing my dog and biting at his feet, but my dog was having a ball). I finally got sick of her ignorance and said to her "are you certain that I'M safe around your dog"? When other people came, she brought up the "Pit Bull issue" with them, they were saying- look at how friendly his dog is. I WANTED to tear into that stupid broad and tell her that I was too afraid of her scarey looking Labrapoodle- and that she should leave. But, I kept biting my tongue. I was still angry about it at 11:00 last night. I need to relax. Thanks for letting me vent.

When i read your post i had to jump in on this one.
We have had pits for over 30 years now and have never had any problems.
Even the ones that were aggressive towards other dogs were never aggressive towards people!
Its the ignorant people who do ignorant things to these dogs that make them aggressive and i might add can be done to any breed of dog.
These dogs are the most loyal, happy, intelligent dogs with clownish behavior that you will ever come across.
I work in the pet industry and can name many dogs i would fear before i feared a pit (but to be considerate i wont go there}:hand
but trust me there are many.
I could go on and on but i will stop here and leave it at you dont know what your missing till you have owned a pit !
Hey mines even a celeb with his picture on dog treats sold at the store my friends own.

You "heard" that did ya? Please see my previous postings about "uninformed" knowledge based on unfounded hype and hysteria.I'm more worried about getting bit by a Beagle than a Pitt. At least I don't have to wear shin and ankle guards around a Pitt. :rolleyes

here is a pic of my pit. i had a friend who had 2 pit's and lived in foster city, and one time they got out (but they are the most calm and very friendly pits) and the neighbors decide not to tell him they are loose, and decide not to call the humane society. but what they decide to do was called the cops! then they put some order on the dogs saying if they get out again they will be taken away. then some other shit happen, that i don't really want to get into. but i gaurantee if it was some other samller dog, then there would of been no problems.

This is also something i heard through the another friend but i am not sure on my info and i tried to do a search but couldn't find anything. but i have heard that if you bring your dog to the foster city dog park, pits need to have a muzzle on them before entering. Just hearing stuff like that irriatates me.

RB929RR-
You guys have a beautiful dog there!!! I love my boy- and CBR929reh knows him. He's trying to push my buttons. He and I take our dogs backpacking in a State park (illegal) and his damn Beagle barks all night long. My AmStaff quietly (tries) to sleep. One time we were visiting a friend in an "Old Folks Home' and his stuuuupid Beagle(who was in the car) kept barking his head off at every car that drove past, while my baby just sat there looking embarrassed. He's just being himself and I hope the mods ban him for such rude behaviour.
Ask CBR929REH whose dog knows how to shake with both the 'right' paw and the 'left' paw on command?????? He's still angry about that.
RB929's Wife- Ask cbr929reh how many times has the Animal Control people been out to his house because of a 'barking beagle'?..........

Clownish Behavior :p That is an awesome line! They are exactly that. I often just watch my dog play and it always puts a smile on my face.

That is soo true, my 5 y/o (will be 6 in 1 month) has a collection of stuffed toys that he 'gaurds' from me. If I say "I'm gonna take your toy", he gets soo excited and runs around the house with the toy in his mouth playing keep-away. This is what people should know about the Bull breeds.
Hey, lets have a doggie get together. I live on the Penninsula, so I could drive to where ever you guys wanna meet and let the kids play.....

Okay that's it, I like Lefty's pit but come on my Beagle a great dog!! And that barking all night (lets read between the lines) Beagles don't bark they howl and shes got some lungs.

Over the years, I've worked with and been around all sorts of animals. And the one thing they all have in common is that if they are treated well, they almost NEVER act in an aggressive manner. I've had more problems with unprovoked aggresion from horses than dogs. And then there are cats, they're just whacked to begin with ( I have and love cats :teeth ). Sometimes you just get exposed to an animal that a little off center. It's been treated well, lots of affection, plenty of socialization (sp?) and out of the blue it attacks. But hell, people do that all the time. Maybe we should be the ones on leashes and wearing muzzles.

(where's the spell check? this is pathetic)

...I've ever been bitten or even snapped at was by a fucking Cocker Spaniel, unprovoked, riding my bike to school.

:wow I thought I was the only one that was attacked by a Cocker Spaniel!

I also got chased and treed by...get this...a chihuahua!:laughing :laughing :laughing I wasn't afraid of him...just didn't want to hurt the lil' fella!:teeth

In anycase, I think all Pit/AmStaff/Bullmastiff/Rott owners will encounter at least 1 person that will based their fears on what they have heard or read...which is really sad.

The reason why I love this breed is because of their loyalty and their passion to make you happy BUT unfortunately, those same traits plus their tenacity, athletic ability, strenght, intelligence are the reasons why they also have this "vicious" reputation. I haven't even added to the equation owners who practice backyard breeding(crazy dad + crazy mom = very F*#ked up pups). Oh...btw...mom and dad are siblings! That's one of the reasons for their unpredictability.:(

As you can see, I'm as loyal to them as they are to me. My best buddy past away 2years ago...he was 20 years old. While in his prime...he was protection trained, well behave off-lead, knows sign language(German and of course English), does scent tracking. For all of his accomplishments, my hen(Henriyeta) was not impressed at all and proceeded to chase his ass back to his dog house!:mad :laughing :laughing

Well that's ok...presently, I have to pits that's being dominated by a damn cat!

is there a specific kind of dog that's bred (or trained) to chase motorcycles?

there seem to be lot of them on the little roads I like to ride on!!

or is it just me? or maybe just my bike?

:confused Thump

I just saw this and I'm glad there is a lot of support for Pit Bulls!
I'm a proud owner of three very loving Pit's. I often have problems with my pride and joy Zues because he's 115 lbs of solid muscle. Those who don't know me our my dog are scared. But neither one of my neighbors have a problem with him as they often try to play with him and incourage him to hang from his rope. Pit's are one of the most loving dogs out there and generally affectionate towards people. It's all Pit Bull owners responiblity to bring justice to the breed by setting a positive example. Long live da'pits
