None now :( Many previously.
near my work along the bay front in SF is a ninja 250, yellow, that has been sitting in the same parking spot, collecting tickets, since at least saturday.

It has substantial damage to the right side, including a missing mirror, cracked fairing, and heavily dented exhaust pipe. It may also be leaking oil slowly judging from the small dark spot building at the end of the kickstand.

Since it seems to be abandoned, I am wondering if someone jacked it, crashed it, and ditched it.

License #: 17D4730. I know new license plates are in the 18 or 19 series, so I am guessing this is a 2005 or 2006 model bike. It's definitely not one of the new version ninjas.

If it's yours, let me know. If no one knows anything about it, I'll report it to the local PD at the end of the day.

how does one go about owning said motorcycle?

why doesn't the meter person who keeps writing these tickets actually check if it is stolen? Is it really not part of his job?

Jonko, it's my understanding that the databases & the agencies (PD stolen vehicle dept and DPT) are not as closely connected as we'd hope. I had a friend whose Acura got stolen in downtown SF & the car was sitting 5 blocks away collecting tickets in the same spot for 2 weeks before she just happened to walk past it on her way to lunch.

I think the meter maid may have to actually contact their dispatch to verify if a VIN is that of a missing vehicle. Other than that, they just punch it in and print it out, then go about their business.

It's a fucked up system that needs fixing, for sure. It seems glaringly obvious, but for whatever reason, it hasn't been done yet.

:(

The dude lost his Acura because he was whacked and couldn't remember where it was parked. It happens.

for what it's worth, the bike was gone when I left work today. Hope whoever owns it got it.
