post a *PIC* of your latest purchase (can be anything as long as you purchased it)

So my trend of doing things without permits continues. I was calling around to find out how much it would cost to get a 2 post car lift put in for the shop. Only people I could find were in Texas. I called Auto Lift Techs out of Houston and was talking to the guy and he mentioned they just took some Rotary Lift brand 10K car lifts out of a dealership. It was big price jump from what I was looking at for new home lifts so I PM'd our resident mechanic know it all RobSJ and got some feedback on that lift. The feedback was that its a solid lift he has used a lot so that sold me on it plus it has a gold certification from the American Lift Institute which means its been through testing to make sure its a good design. So messaged them we were good to go and they came out today and did the deed. I ran some 10/3 wire to the front of the shop so I can have some exterior plugs so its a 2 gang box with one 30A 220V plug and a 120V 20 amp duplex plug with an in use weather cover. Then I ran another leg from that box to the overhand side of the workshop and put the same setup there so I can run power to the lift. So here is the new toy in all it's glory I just need to do the electrical work this week so I can actually use it as they just put 120V on it to show me it works.

so jelly -Hello,

Before using the product, please ensure that the upper microswitch stop is functioning properly.

Yeah, it’s pretty nice set up

Yup. I still have to wire in the 220v and the top push bar switch. I got the electrical schemtics downloaded so it shouldn't be too hard to finish up possibly this weekend although I have some pedestals I need to test build for the daughters wedding and try out my paint setup before I leave for CT next week.
@Sharxfan This is the equivalent of tying a flank stake 6 inches out of reach of a dog's mouth.....I'm with Augustiron....JELLY AF.
I have waited/saved for a long time to get this as it has always been at the top of my list of things I would like to have. Wife provided the seed money as an anniversary gift and I added to it over the last couple of years to finally make this happen. Also talked myself into it as I can also get some accoutrements that will allow me to also lift the motorcycle, zero turn and golf cart. Still looking to see if it might be cheaper to build something( I have access to a structural welder person -> future son-in-law) or buy it.

Now I have no excuses to start on Project Restore 1970 Challenger. Which I will be posting here eventually and possibly on YouTube as it has waited long enough.

Very nice. Yes, Rotary is a great lift with good support, if needed.
Are those 12 foot columns?

yup they are 12ft. One thing is I didn't think about side to side clearance for working on the car/suv. I really should have done 15 or 16ft for the overhang but live and learn I will make what I have work.

Meet Metheny. She's the latest addition to the family. I'll be giving her some care and restoration and pushing her limits offroad. Planning to take her to Carnegie on 9/4 to run through the 4x4 exercise area- if you're around come say hi. Today we're celebrating victory over the CA DMV because we successfully submitted her bonded title paperwork and got plates- that's the face you make when you shout "VICTORY!" :D

I assume she's a heavy smoker?
I've already got her down from 4 packs a day to two with a new exhaust. Next up will be to redo injectors and fuel pump to minimize it. I hate the coal roll vibe- first thing I did was rip off the 8" exhaust she had on and put a decent (but good sounding) muffler on her.

I pulled this poorly kept former Italian supermodel out of the crack house.

Massive baggage not shown (pun and actual)

Doing Satan's work

My dad had one of those in matte black. It was a logging rig to get up to jobs.

I have such a soft spot for them. I’m sure you’ll turn Methany into a beauty. 🥹

Pink and rainbows and sailor moon and all the Coexist style liberal bumper stickers available on University Avenue...

And an 8 inch straight piped exhaust cummins smokestack belching pure Murikan Coal dust in yer face fer the lulz

Had my Schwinn Super Sport converted to a flat bar setup with new handlebar, brake levers, 3 piece crankset, new rear hub and wheel and modern derailleur

Bought the bike in 1969 with money from mowing lawns and baby sitting.

I think it came out pretty nicely albeit a new bike would have been cheaper, lighter and faster.
.
Narrow bars will take some getting used to.

Rides solid as a rock as it should at 31.4lbs!

But that is almost 2lbs lighter than it was before.

Feels pretty slow; haven't put the speedometer back on yet so we will see.

7 speed with Shimano derailleur shifts very smoothly compared to the old Sturmey Archer.

Is the future goal to keep that "none of the panels are the same color" theme going, perhaps in even more vibrant shades than gray?
Funny, matte black is in her future I think, if I can shake the idea of having the body panels all powdercoated galaxy purple.

What I'm aiming for- more matte black, and no power wagon motif, but grabber orange hockey stick. And if I can find one of those Ram hood ornaments...

You know I was just thinking when I repaint the challenger I think it would be sick in matte dark gray. But I have the same affliction and think plum crazy is also a valid choice.

I think that we live in a world where being your unabashed full self is not just allowed but celebrated, and that if you want a purple car, you should have a purple car.

*wrestles with the memories of KITT, B.A. Baracus' van, and Airwolf all being black and not a beautiful, deep purple*

oh I wonder if they make a matte version of plum crazy although that would mean I would have to be super anal about the bodywork and the last time I did paint perp it wasn't as great as it could have been and that was just with black paint. would also need to do a frame off paint job hmm decisions decisions.
