Kalle, I love where you take your vintage bikes.

When were you up there? It's been a few weeks for me. :ride

Today I met Tim at Hollister with his vintage bike, which is the same model I had in High school. 72 DT2 250 MX.
I think.

My 90's, early 70's, before I got into tiger cubs.

Too cool. What kind of frame is the race bike... a VanTech? How well did the motor hold up?

I was racing (and riding to high school during the week) an SL100 a few years later. Supposed to be stronger, lighter, and more reliable, but it grenaded with alarming regularity.

Van Tech frame kit, engine had a Harmon-Collins? road race cam with 3 degree retard buttons, Powerall stroker crank, biggest stock overbore, Dremel ported head.
Reliable, the one time it quit, loss of 1/3 teeth on the cam sprocket, also cracked a fork slider completely 360*. It took the 49'r Enduro to kill it.
The Van Tech Earles type forks were soon added, along with a new cam sprocket & chain.

Sweet! What do I win?

It'd be a hoot to race today. I picked up a nicely modded SL125 about 15 years ago, and raced it a bit... good fun.

Amazing how guys would actually run small bikes like that in an enduro. I remember Jim Reiger telling me years ago that back in the '60s, he ran a C110!

I was riding enduro's in high school, the key was to hop off while still moving to push it over the top while still throwing dirt out the back.
Easy when your are young, @ 66, not so easy now when I "help" my TW200.

Is a picture of a 1978 SR 500 Cafe Racer i am working on. Custom Seat, Tank, Handlebars, Electrical routing, new master cylinder updates, and still soo much more work to finish the build. Much love fellow vintage enthusiasts!
sweet! i had a 1976 RD400 back in the day. the 400s were so much more refined than the 350s and easier to wheelie. what is the definition "vintage"?
never mind that last :
The only official designation of what constitutes a vintage motorcycle comes from the American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association, which even has two different designations for vintage, depending on the type of racing the bike is going to do. The AHRMA defines motorcycles as vintage for motocross racing if they were built before 1975, and vintage for road racing if they were built after 1975.
