I want to buy parts for the DRZ, and I probably should, but it feels kinda dumb spending money like that when I don't have anything real coming in. I guess I can justify the UPS job as my DRZ fund :laughing. Ideally it gets new braided brake lines, a tail tidy or some sort of blinker solution that the exhaust won't melt off, a repack of the pipe and I'll probably experiment with some bar risers to see if I can make it more comfortable to ride with my butt of the saddle. Oh and I wouldn't mind a better seat, but, my butt might just have to keep suffering for another season.

Fired off a few more job apps this morning, coffee is working well it seems. I expect to hear back form exactly none of them though. Buddy of mine has suggested I'd make a good service writer where he works at Mercedes and he's pretty senior there. I told him if I can afford to do the job I'm certainly interested.

oh yeah... "tell me how it is?" Well, if it doesn't need lines don't buy them.

I'm the same with car-lifting-ramps. But hey I probably need them since the oil change needs to be done.... (and is already delayed) .. even the oil is purchased.

that actually sounds pretty good

you're totes goin ➡️3️⃣❎

Pretty sure I bought a kit at OReilly that came with a jack like that and two jack stands for around $100, and you can definitely get a new jack for like that for $40. I won't buy stuff like that used, I wouldn't trust it, but also, I dunno why I didn't buy a better jack, those little ones suck. If you wanna borrow mine and maybe keep it, you're welcome to it. If it had bigger casters, this would be a good option I think.

kinda love Oreilly.

when I bought my first jack - which I still use , 10-15 years later--it's medium-size small, from oReilly, it's the gray/blue one --- I wasn't even aware lower-profile jacks exist!

thanks for the offer .. I seem to have that one, AND a smaller one (red) with the 2-jack-stands pack :) BUT OMG I NEED the above H/F jack!!!! :love looks so good!!!

Who is your buddy and what dealership? I worked Metcedes service in the 80’ and 90’ made big money. Long exhausting hours.

His name is Carl but hes only been with them for the past 10 years or so, he runs the service department more or less. It's the SF dealership.

That dealership used to be a shitshow. I think they got it straightened out.

Did most of our wet work yesterday thank goodness.

Carl has very little patience for that sort of thing, so the fact that he is still there says either it was fixed, or he fixed it, at least in his department.

There is good money to be made as a service writer. Not Google nonet but good money. Just remember: you didn't make it, you didn't break it, and your shit runs" 😉

That totally depends on the brand, the stealership location as well your ability to upsell and even lie to customers.
